2010 Ames team Playoffs

Postby Buzzzed85 » Mon Feb 15, 2010 6:22 pm

For the Playoffs

-2 Rounds: 1 Round from longs at Carrol Marty, 1 round from long to long at 13 (yellow to yellow).
- You will have 2 weeks to get your rounds in (March 1- March 15th)
-Scorecards will be purchased for $5 from Josh Lyster. The $5 will go towards paying for your spot in the tournament should you make one of the top 10 spots. Any extra cash leftover will be used to fundraise for the new pro tee pad on hole 4 at carrol marty.
-You can "buy back in" for $10 if you aren't happy with your rounds.
-If you do buy back in your scores will be averaged. This means that when you buy in you MUST play both courses again (ie if you don't throw well at one of the courses you can't just buy back in to play that course.) You must play both again.
-You must play with two other people who are qualifying for the tournament and at the end of your round those two people will sign your card. This just eliminates the possibility of cheating. Although we know that won't be a problem
-You must say before the first throw of the round that you are using this as a qualifying round.
Cannot throw an ace on hole one and decide after that you want to make it a qualifying round.
-No OB's. If you throw in the creek and don't want to take a stroke for it get ready to get your feet wet.
-All PDGA rules apply to this qualifying event
-Have fun. This is the first year that we're having an Ames team be represented. Make sure you support all the people that make it and know that there's more years to come to play.
HAPPY FROLFING!

This is getting way too complicated just for try outs. 5 bucks to try out for a team isn't a good idea. We already raised 50 bucks for the concrete on 4's tee pad and it's already got the 2 x 4's squared out. I'll contribute 5 bucks for a tee pad, but charging people for a try out, really? This wasn't in the discussion on Saturday I don't know why people are changing things we all agreed on then. 5 bucks to try out is just so ridiculous.

Things were changed because there were more people not at the meeting whose views differed from what we voted on saturday so some changes needed to be made so it became a more equal playing field for everyone and their schedules. As far as money goes, this is definitely being raised for the players competing in the tournament itself (but extra, if any at all, would be nice to help improve some much needed things on the courses here in Ames.)

Don't forget qualifying starts on Monday. It's supposed to get in the 30's this weekend good warm-up and hopefully it stays warm for the next 2 weeks.

This weekend is probably the only time I'll have to get my rounds in. I imagine somebody will be out to play with, right?

This will mark the first time I'll have thrown a frisbee since mid-December, so it will be interesting to say the least.

Be on the look out for my Wraiths I've lost to the snow! Hole 5 right by the pin somewhere, and hole one on the right.

Tall Paul, Tom Lansing, and Bob Howie are coming up from Des Moines this weekend to do their qualifying rounds. If there is anyone looking for a group of people to play with this is definitely a fun one. If you need numbers call me (zach) @ 515-419-9886.
Peace and happy frolfing!

I will most likely be out this weekend to do at least one of my rounds or possible both.

I say we leave that up to the ten who make it on the team.
