HELP Needed for NORWALK course

Postby puppetmaster » Fri Jan 19, 2007 10:22 pm

Me and another guy I work with are trying to get Nancy frof P&R to put a 9 course in windflower park. She has been reading and I think we are getting closer. Sence we work for the city we told her we will donate all the labor if she buys and I offered the 1st $100.00. The city will let us use the city equipment. Here is wher we could use as meny people to call or e-mail her to get this going. We could also using more people to help us pour the pads but thats another day. If anyone would call or e-mail her it might just help

There's a DSM club member in Norwalk who would be a great asset to your cause. He's rarely on-line (not sure he's even been on this site yet). I will pass this info on to him.

Hey guys, I'd be a BIG TIME supporter of 9 holes there. It'd be nice to have something close by. Even to do what Dysart, IA did by putting in 3 holes, it'd be better than nothing. I live 4 houses from the pool (in Windflower park) & would love to get involved in this. I'll call Nancy to lend my interest.

I have a friend who is a p.e. teacher at Norwalk and his students are wanting a course in too. He has an in with the P&R lady too. Shoot me an email and I will try to get you hooked up with him. Backing from the high school should help.

I don't know if it's worth a crap, but you might introduce your PE friend to the EDGE curriculum.

Already been introduced, but they didn't want to buy any of their packages.

yeah steve, more opps for Jay to spam the forums! HA! Seriously thuogh, I bet Gary lost his way with the Norwalk thread, and started a new one by mistake. No biggie.

Ok guys, I have approval to buy the baskets for this course @ a discounted retail price from Scheel's. This ought to help stretch whatever donations Gary has for this cournse so far.

I plan on attending this meeting, and trying to help Gary out as much as possible in coordinating & having a good helping hand in the process.

Note to non-Norwalk DG'ers. This park is a relatively flat park with a few decent trees & a creek which could come into play, but won't quite be any kind of Greenwood or anything. it should be a nice, local, rec course for people to play, adn for regular DG'ers to experience @ least.

Here's a copy of Gary's post from his 2nd thread, so we can keep this in one running thread.
Ok, the update. Talked to Nancy today to see if anyone has contacted her yet and she said no. I asked if it would hep and she said yes, the more phone calls she can get and e-mails she recived, the better the chance of influencing her commitee. They are the ones that we have to convince.
She also said that NO-ONE ever shows up to the meetings except to bitch so if we had a large # of people to show up, the better yet are chances are. Their next meeting is Feb. 7th at 7:00 at the Police station. I would like to know if any of you would be willing to show up, she said if to many people want to come to let her know so she can change the meeting place to a larger area. Please let me know.
She is going to get me a map of windflower park so we can come up with a design. If any of you would like to meet with me in the evening at the library, I could use as much input as I can get.
As of today I have recived $400.00 more in pludges, that makes 500 so far and we are planning on hopefully more, anyone have other optionms, please let me know.
Please call or e-mail her,
Thanks, Gary L

...gotta toot our own horns today...

We've received pledges for 2/3 of our funding after 2 weeks of raising! Keep your fingers crossed for the Council mtg next Weds!

(btw: who knows the moderator of the forums to ask for this thread to be moved into the DSM forum?)

At the DSM Ice Bowl last Saturday, a gentleman told the crowd that we could go online and pledge/donate money to this course fund. How do we do that?
