Google Maps aerial update

Postby grodney » Wed Dec 27, 2006 12:05 pm

Google Maps has updated their aerial imagery for Polk and Warren counties.

I believe both counties are now hi-res, which means you can go to the full zoom level of Google Maps and get some nice detail.

The Polk images look fairly new to me, and are much better than the previous ones, in my opinion. I don't like the color of Big Creek's, but the high-res is nice. Nobody home at Walnut. 1 car at Big Creek, and the players' shadows might be approaching basket #12. The Ewing images are awesome, as are Grandview. Who has the bigass bright yellow van at Ewing?

Warren is now in hi-res, but I'm not sure the images are new. Doesn't Pickard have tee pads? None visible on the images. I swear some online service (probably Warren County GIS) had tee pads visible there at one point, but not on Google Maps.

Anyway, enjoy.

Two golfers on #14 at Ewing? Don't know what else those shadows could be, with the disclaimer I haven't been there in 2 or 3 years.

Side benefit of giving carte blanche to the NSA? "Is that C4 in that guys pocket or is he just happy to get a deuce?"

I checked out my place of work and can recognize my car in the lot. Not quite reading-the-license-plate hi-res, but still pretty awesome.

Here's my brother, Harvey, and me, in frisbee golf attire:

Meh, I give it a C+.

It helps if you actually know what any of us look like, but Steve's still trumps this easily.

My buddy made a Wii profile of me and it's ridiculous how much it looks like me... even the beanie with the Medeski, Martin, and Wood logo.
