2009 Worknights

It is playable...just a little rough around the edges so far. A few more work nights and it will be in much better shape.

As of right now the only non playable areas are...5 Blue fairway is a bit of a lake (last I saw) and 13 Blue is under a few tons of sand.

Good point, my suggestion was to dig it out a bit deeper and smaller and make it a "feature."

I've played #5's blue fairway once this year while not having to throw over water. I know, not a good percentage of the time though...

Worknight tonight 5:30 at the Peninsula. Jeff sent out a mass email and I sent out a mass text. Please bring chainsaws, shovels, workgloves, and wear long pants/jeans.

Sounds like there's a LOT to do out there, so please bring a friend!

See ya tonight. :P

Anybody find a pair of clear plastic safety glasses with yellow trim? I think I dropped them when I was clearing hole 4 putting area, or somewhere between holes 4 and 8.

I may go out there today or tomorrow so I'll look for you.

As an aside, last nights work night was awesome there were at least 10-12 people out all bustin some butt and we now have the Pen playable again. Still a lot to do but it is coming along.

We really had a great crew of people last night!
Thanks to Jeff, Greg, Brent, Jimmy, Kevin, Andy, Diane, Jason, Jake, Tom, Mark, Tim and a guy I didn't get his name... :D

We got all the downed trees from the windstorm cleaned up as much as we could, on #'s 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.

We also installed steps up the hill to 18's teepad, which is AWESOME!!

I have to work next Tuesday the 7th, and Brent and I will be out of town on Tues July 21.

Thanks again everyone, what a great turnout and productive night last night!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I won't be at the worknight tonight, I have to work. But here is the email Jeff sent out in case someone might not be on his email list:

We’re planning to work tonight at 5:30 if the rain holds off. The list of things to do include replacing the steps from 4’s pins to 5’s blue tee area, possibly doing the same for #12’s steps, and moving sand from #13’s tee areas. We can use a chain saw to remove stumps on #8’s red fairway, to cut up the log near #12’s long pin on the right side, and clear a more direct path to the #10 blue pad from the trail.

Tools to bring:

Chain saw
Shovels
Work Gloves
Wheel barrows
Loppers

Hope the rain holds off and that we’ll get another great turnout tonight.

Thanks to Jimmy for helping tonight. He used his weed eater on #17 before I arrived. Even though it rained a little bit, we still were able to reset the steps on #5 both ahead and behind the blue tee. We also moved some more sand from around #13's red tee to give a little more room. I then went to #3's fairway and removed some annoying limbs and a couple dead elms as well as the branches of a tree that fell on the left side of the fairway. On the way out, I cut down a hanging branch on #2's left fairway. Got a lot done for the weather not cooperating much. Still a lot to do!

Assuming decent weather, would anyone else want to get together next Tuesday, the 15th, and try to get some work done at Peninsula?

Also, could one of you guys, Jeff or Kevin, or anyone else with 'connections' with the city call and beg for them to mow. jeebus it is getting uglier and uglier out there every day.

I think if we get a good showing of weedwackers a night or two that there won't be too much growth from here on out. Knock it all down now and we can enjoy the course until it is under snow.
