Taping your fingers

Postby Detra319 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 10:13 pm

So does anybody tape their fingers? I seem to have this callus on my middle finger that just keeps recurring and is getting worse and worse. I think I should be able to tape it, but I have never done it before, and was wondering if anyone have any prior experiences or advice they could share with me.

Done it for years. I use waterproof tape instead of paper tape because it's more durable and won't tear. I only tape my middle finger to cover my pinch point - where my thumb presses down on the disc. Occasionally I have to tape my ring fingertip when I've thrown too many long drives. I usually use a cloth tape for there since I need more feeling in my fingertips for putting.

I tape my index finger because it will get torn up after several drives. The cloth tape mentioned by prodiscgolf is the best for feeling. I haven't had a problem with it, and in fact it has probably helped because I don't flinch from the pain when throwing and screw up my drives.

I get blisters on my F.U. Finger after palyin too much disc. But if I tape it it feels like ass. Unless u are an NFL lineman I would suggest giving the ol' throwin hand some rest. Go fishing instead of disc with ur freetime.

Someone was suggesting that nuskin liquid bandage stuff...the stuff kinda like superglue. He said just coat it with some of that and it will hold up just fine.

Would that hold up for a whole round? 2 rounds? Throwing practice in the field for 100 drives? I'm just trying to figure this stuff out, I'm new and I want to get better as quickly as I can, especially if all I have to do is talk to other people :P

Well I played around with some of the product called New Skin, and it seems to work like a charm. I was able to apply it specifically to the area that was hurt, so I didn't really lose all of my feeling like I was when I tried using paper tape. It held up for throwing practice, where I threw 114 drives, and was still going strong the next morning when I woke up.

So...my endorsement is yes, if you get callus/blisters and you want something with a bit extra protection, try some of this stuff.
