I'm sure you're right, Mike. If it hasn't happened by now...

Never thought about the Valkie thing, either. Makes sense that it would be more about the almighty $, than merit.

I've had people ask me if it's ok to throw a "women's disc"... I tell em that Val can nearly throw it 500', and suggest they go give it a shot!!! ha! What's Christian's record? 682? I forget... Now that he's on the Star Valk, that helps...

yeah, but you should be telling them it's not actually a "woman's" disc, just has her endorsement on it.

Val will be the next one to get a disc, I bet. I thought I'd see her name on a Pro Starfire since it's her favorite disc. The JK has a pro Valk, or is it jus the champ? I forget now. If Des was going to have a disc, it'd have to be a beefy one since she's got such a cannon.

I think it was Matt Peckham who told me they now run limited runs on the females discs for this reason. He said when JK went on a disc the disc sales on the Valk went down. I do remember when my friends and I started playing disc golf discussing if the JK Valk was a womens disc.

Val cannot throw a disc 500'. Not even 400' golf distance.

I was talking about the Distance record... That's all. It's a "selling point", that's all when a dude asks if they can throw a Valk. BUT, I stand corrected. Her 485 was set w/ a 157 DX Wraith? I could have sworn it was the Valk. oh well.

April 5-7, 2008 (Ivanpah Dry Lake, California / Primm, Nevada, at the NV state line, about 40 miles out of Las Vegas):

During the women's semi-finals, on her 3rd throw Val Jenkins caught the shot she had been waiting for all weekend. It was with that throw she had broken and set the new Women's World Distance Record at 148 M (485 feet) with a 157 DX Wraith, earning a World Championship and Distance Record at the same time which had never been done before.

The Boss

Postby DLCdisc » Sun Dec 07, 2008 2:33 pm

First of all, I have watched Val throw off the hill at Ewing and she throws it longer than most anyone I have played with. But back to the Boss -- I think it is a cool disc. I don't have a big arm, but I have been able to turn it a little, glide it for a while, and have it tail slightly at the end. It feels more like a faster Wraith to me than an Xcaliber. I have thrown it in the open quite well so far.

The 161 R-Pro I picked up from Jay's doesn't seem to be as stable as the champion 175 I had earlier this summer. (big surprise)
