Put-Putt (disc) Golf

Put-Putt (disc) Golf

Postby ghstinshll » Thu Aug 28, 2008 2:15 pm

Hey guys... I've played plenty of rounds w/ the putter @ various courses.

Based on playing @ the Glow w/ Mikal "putter" Williams, and having seen others come out w/ a Challenger & do pretty well, I'm wanting to throw together a mini. Let's open up discussion, and see about the terms:

DATE: maybe a Sunday afternoon in September

TIME: Morning

FORMAT: Putters ONLY - 18 holes plus 6 safari holes

COST: $10

Would there be any interest?

its a good time with just putters. there are some really interesting shot you have to figure how you need to throw the putter to get it to work. good times.

Yeah, I've played that Wednesday Grandview night golf with one disc. You could choose a putter or go with a midrange or driver. There is sort of a strategy in which you pick.

Well if a Roc is considered a putter, I would be down for it (providing I am not out of town).

Define "putter". I knew a guy who putted with an X-clone (is Tom Thompson still around?). I've known several who putt with their mid-ranges.

I'm thinking it's GOT to have putt & approach on it... Just because one putts with a non-putter does not make the disc a putter. (especially when it says mid-range, or multi-purpose on it)

You should try to get this thing to go... or i have heard of another format that you bring one or two discs and if u loose them you are out of the tourney. it sounds like a good time and i think that it would help a lot of peoples game who dont throw putters at all.

Exactly - i keep trying to get the locals to do it - to challenge them to better their game, but noone bites.

Well, except after the glow when I STOMPED Gary w/ a putter, and Jeremy w/ a driver, and me w/ a PIG. It had more to do w/ me being buzzed, and they being totally schlosched...

Um - Jason....

I invited you to the Beer Buzzz (you could use any disc you liked as long as it was a Buzzz) this spring. You showed up but claimed you were lame (something about having your scrotum trimmed). Some of us locals played pretty well, at least until the beer kicked in. Also the CTP was awesome.

Anyway - the one disc format is something I think works - it takes one aspect of the game (disc selection) out of the mix and forces you to get the most out of your abilities. Plus it's a pretty fast way to play a round.

If you want to hold off until next year that's fine - we can just make the Beer Buzzz a bit bigger and better. I'm also considering a winter Ice Beer buzzz...
