Peninsula Park DGC CLOSED until further notice

Postby GDL17921 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 8:49 am

yeah, I see what you're saying. If it was struck by lightning, I'd think there would be a tell tale charred mark. Regardless, it sucks. That thing was the phattest disc golf kiosk I've ever seen. Hopefully it can be repaired/salvaged/replaced.

Seems like explosives would cause some sort of charring too. Maybe I'm wrong.

A baseball bat would probably break after a few hits against that thing. I took a closer look yesterday, and my guess is dull axe or a sledgehammer.

Black powder yes, other explosives perhaps not. Whoever or whatever did it had some energy, that's for sure! I get tired just looking at the damage...that kiosk is a beast.

It's still a beast, just broken for now. Kevin and I will talk about how it will get put back together. It may be something less if vandalizm was the cause. If it was lightning, we'll probably rebuild it the way it was.

I couldn't see any hatchet marks and even the chunks that splintered out away from the center post didn't have any impressions on them. It really looked like it exploded from the center out and particularly from where the top bolt was through the wood. It's just odd that there are no burn marks from the lightning anywhere.

Terry just reported that the police believe the board was hit by lightning. WHEW!!! I'm glad it wasn't vandalized.

Come to the meeting Monday everyone who can so we can talk about working on our three courses. See the other thread....

nope this course is NOT OPEN. we still have huge trees down on some holes, and the back nine will be addressed at our worknight this coming monday, 5:30. the more people who show up to help, the faster this course gets open... maybe you can talk the BW's into coming out to help...
