Who the heck are you?

Postby Eminem4president » Sun Oct 29, 2006 11:30 am

One thing I did like about DSM website, was you could click on the persons handle, and it brings up a small window with the persons name and where they're from. Can ya'll do something like that here?

Not really. It gives some info, But how bout names?

I think some people would think about what they post if they knew people could see exactly who they were.

This is a great idea. I hate that when I go to a tournament, I'm asking, what's your screen name? I would like to already know instead of picking up bits and pieces here and there....short term memory isn't the greatest resource

So wouldn't a place to put your name in the profile section still be easier then sifting through the introduce yourself section just to find out who someone is?

While I like your idea Tanner - I'm really digging Krazy calling me "ghost" lately... w00t! No seriously, maybe people can put their name in one of the fields about them.

Tank, I believe that in the database that the forums use, an admin/programmer shuld be able to create an extra entry for names... Then, program the profile page to pull from the name column in the database. It'd take some work, but is possible - unless the PHPBB code that these forums are built on limits that kind of customization. :?:

I'm pretty sure PHPBB actually lets you add fields through the admin interface. All you have to do is step through the wizard. At least I am pretty sure it was phpbb I used to use a long time ago.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. You have to hand code them in.
