NAME CAMDEN II

Postby treeMD » Sat May 03, 2008 12:35 am

It's odd but the last few times I've been to Camden I've seen a lot of turkey vultures circling the skies around the park. Vultures are usually an ominous sign, so... Vulture Valley?....it sounds scarier in my head i guess.

Suggest reference to the Osage Orange trees in the name. Those trees are strong, tough, and all over the course. Osage Creeks: Camden's Wild Side.

PK called it the Green Monster because of the green initiative we're trying to implement and the difficulty of the course!

Wildside: Camden's Other Side
Camden's Green Monster
Osage Oaks, Osage Valley, Osage Alley
The Lost Planet, Hidden Valley, Lost Ridge, Over Under

Always fun thinking about it - Just hope when we settle in on a name for the directory that it inspires people and their imagination!

Here's an idea (bad or good, who knows...), and then I'll leave it alone.

-It seems that keeping "Camden" in the name makes perfect sense, right?
-Naming it Gold or something of that nature might sound nice, but alludes to the other course being sub-par (even if true), right?
-Keeping some of the original intent of "Other Side" or "Wild Side" keeps coming into play, right?

Why not think about splitting some differences by naming it...and adding a slogan of sorts. (Especially because I believe Paul told me at one point that there is going to be a sign overhead when entering the course, right?)

Something along the lines of:
Camden II: Fox Woods "Take a walk on the wildside..."
Camden II: Osage Valley "Take a walk on the other side..."

...or something similar, maybe.

Again, take it or leave it... probably leave it.

I've said this to individual people and this will be the last time I bring this up: Has anyone asked the city who gets to name it? This debate over a name is loads of fun, but maybe they already have a name in mind since it is their park.

Take it or leave it... probably leave it.

PDGA Directory:

"The Dave Pannel's Wildside @ Camden Park's Other Side brought to you by The Village of Milan"

18 Holes Mach III

Google Maps

Great Park 4 practice baskets 2 courses

People call it Camden I or Camden II right now - good luck naming it no matter who does it.

I hope when the Village names it, they have their marketing department take care of it.

Take it or leave...probably leave it.

This is an old thread.

The name has become CAMDEN TWO and CAMDEN ONE for the original course.

That's what everyone says when they refer to them, and we'll always call it Camden Two "The Otherside" in honor of RJ and Reeds efforts and continued support.

I have named layouts in honor of people, businesses, and of course animals which I have used as a theme to describe unique layouts.

On a side note: Unofficial Course Records (casual rounds/league) will be established for each unique layout as well as Official Course Records for sanctioned pdga rounds. The overall Course Record will be determined by the highest rated pdga sanctioned round (currently 1072).
