High Water Updates

Postby Crager » Sun Mar 16, 2008 4:09 pm

Water is backed over the road going to the gate , the river is about 4' below the 1993 watermark .
Keep checking this site for updates , I will check down there a couple times a day.

Ice went out this morning on the river, water has receded.
Any rain we get could bring levels back up.

How is the creek doing with all this rain?

The creek rarely comes out of it's banks, except down near the gate area. I'm more concerned about the river as we go into the weekend. The creek rages pretty good by #1 when it's raining this much though.

Yah, I don't think I've ever seen the creek go out of its banks.
But if you throw a disc in it when it's high, you'll never get it back.
Trust me, I know.
I threw a great looking anhyzer from the 9B tee pad to the long pin placement using the left side fareway and never saw it again.
It must have flew past the basket and into the creek.
I really loved that disc too.

But any water in that creek won't stay high for long will it? More flash flood type stuff isn't it.

It flows out to the river very fast; should be back to normal in a couple days as long as it doesn't keep raining.

The river will most likely have the park road under water by morning. Hopefully it will be open again by Wednesday.

The road is underwater from the boat ramp to the gate and still rising as of 6:30 this morning. The only way to the course is by a canoe or a flatbottom boat. Will keep all informed.

Crager said the creek came out of its banks the other day for the first time up around the bend by #1 basket spreading sand around and also washing the mulch away by #1 tee pad.
I wish it would have filled "Bob's Bunkers" in #1 fareway.
I bought 4 bags of mulch to fill in around the tee pad and am bringing them up tonight.

I've never seen this much flash flooding before; I hope there is no more as it takes a toll on the creek banks, especially by #9B basket.
It's getting closer to the creek everyday.
It will be more of a factor on drives and putts increasing the OB chances.

For those who camp in the area by #1, be aware that the water would have come up fast and covered the entire camping area. If there's rain in the forecast you might not want to be back there.

The road into Wildcat is flooded and expected to go up another 4ft, cresting Wednesday afternoon late. I don't expect to be able to get in until maybe Sunday. I guess we'll probably find some tree damage when we do. It looks like it will break the record.

As of last night at 7:00 the water was up to the bottom of the Wildcat stone by the boat ramp. You could watch the water rise
Going to try and get a canoe tonight to check on the course.
That is the only way to get in now. The course should be playable if you boat in.
