2008 Random Doubles League

Postby calvarycoffee » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:16 am

It's been a long winter . . . and April is almost here.

We'll be out there to start on Saturday April 5th. 9:30 am
(we'll go to Saturday, October 25th)

Same format as Last Year

Each Saturday 9:30 AM
We will meet by basket #1, (#2 Shelter House)

Ages 16 and up.

18 holes - best disc format.
Teams of 2 will be randomly picked each week.

(in case of an odd number of players, the single player team will recieve 1 mulligan on each hole.)

4 Individual Challenges include:
-Closest to Pin
-Longest Drive
-Longest Putt
-Trick Shot Challenge
(Trick Shot is a unique challege to try and duplicate. It will be a different challege each week and on a different hole each week.)
Past examples of Trick Shots include:
-Left handed shots
-Closest to objects other than the basket
-Closest to water hazard.
-shortest best drive
-upside down disc shots.
-hole to be played "disc vertical"
-hole to be played as "worst shot"

Up to 2 Tee locations may be modified week to week.

We will have 2 money pools (these are optional)
- $1 Ace Pool
- $1 CTP Pool
If no one Aces for the week, the cash will be carried over to the next week and the next until someone aces. -CTP pool: There will be 1 cash winner each week and the cash prize will vary according to that week's participants.

RULE: time limit of 2 minutes for Disc Searching during your round. If a disc is not found or "fished out" within 2 minutes, new disc must be played in its place. Please prepare for this ahead of time by bringing multiple discs. After our round of play, there will be several people available to help with disc searching.

COURTESY RULE: Please be considerate of other players. No throwing discs towards groups. No frustration throws. No non-stroke throws. Please use common sense when representing disc golfers everywhere. Teams breaking this rule will recieve 1 verbal warning by the team(person) that declares that a violation has been made. Every violation after is a 1 stroke penalty.

Our round of 18 holes usually lasts an hour; after which, most everyone stays for another round of single play.

Saturday April 26th

I'm not sure who won this week. We had a few teams quit because of losing all their discs in the water. Quite a few people left because of the cold and wind.

I was unavailable due to the Earth Day stuff going on in East Park.

I do know that Aaron bloss won $3 for the CTP.

Don't worry, next week should be normal and hopefully warmer!!

Thanks for the info Dave. Wow, that's quite awhile. I'm pretty sure the course in Belmond is still completely under water. Not sure how the other North Iowa courses are fairing.
