How to post a picture

Postby KePP » Tue Jul 24, 2007 2:04 pm

Should this topic be a sticky? Just re-typing this up as a guide. Any input is welcome.

Once you have set up an account and uploaded your image, you merely post the image link using the "img" feature and it will magically appear in your post.

1. Sign up for an image hosting site. Some common hosts include Photobucket, Flickr, and Imageshack. I use flickr because it uses my yahoo login.

2. Upload your picture to the image hosting site.

3. Copy the image link (URL) provided by the hosting site.

4. Paste the link into the message body, then highlight the link and click the "Img" tag at top. Preview.

So how do you downsize the image once on here?
Are you ready for the Challenge?

The forum itself does not support resizing an image.

I know for Flickr, once you upload an image they let you view a small, medium, or large version of it. I would imagine the other hosting services provide a similar option. If so, view the preferred size and link to that photo.

Another option is to resize it using an imaging software before you upload it.

This is supposed to be the way to do it, by just adding the dimensions to resize to, but doesn't seem supported in the version of PHPBB that the iowadg site is using. Shane, U need your flier resized?

Also: How to embed videos from various sources.

Again, it depends on the version of PHPBB that Brad & Mike are running - so this might not work.

Excellent, thanks!

That would be the PHPBB (code that the forums are written in) way. Thanks Corey!
