College Basketball

Postby dischawk » Wed Nov 14, 2007 11:29 pm

As if there weren't enough bickering about college football's postseason, now college basketball has added more to their postseason with a 3rd post-season tournament, called the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

This is my favorite sentence in the article: "There will now be 113 Division I teams playing postseason basketball."

...theres still hope for Iowa to get to the postseason, hehe

Which is still less ridiculous than D-1 football
64 of 119 = 53.78% of D-1 Football Teams make the post season

113 of 336 = 33.63% of D-1 Basketball Teams will now make the post season

After seeing the ISU - UNI game highlights I have come to the conclusion that the Iowa - ISU game is going to be the most pathetic rivalry game of all time

I was at the ISU-UNI Game and during a TO Matt Fausch is announced over the PA for a free-throw contest...................let’s just say he was about as close as I was in the second level and his form was Special Olympic worthy

Grant I hope to god you aren't serious...

Funny thing is, I'm watching "Classic Big Ten Games" on the big 10 network. They've got Iowa at UConn circa '95 on... oh if we could return to those days.

Jake Kelly has a shot, but that's a far cry from saying we've got any semblance of a real basketball team yet. I do admit (as much as it puts a bad taste in my mouth) that they look better with Tony Freeman in. It looked like he gave the usual bumbling around out there a little structure and you could see how it effected their shooting percentage (because they set up real plays and didn't have to take pop shots) and their defense. We'll see how it goes, we did beat a very good UNI team. I'm not going to let one win let me go running off at the mouth though, if there was ever an Iowa team that could make me eat my words, it's this one.

I will agree that Iowa showed signs of improvement in their best effort of the year. On a down side for Iowa, UNI played like $hit and was still in it with a few ticks left, shows that there is still vast improvement needed for Iowa to compete in the Big Ten. But I will give credit where credit is due......Iowa came to play; they had a great game plan.........rebound.

Iowa is one of the worst rebounding teams in the Big Ten as their front court is horrible, Iowa knew that going into the game and probably made that there focus all week knowing that UNI is the top rebounding team in the Valley. Well it worked UNI got out rebounded which doesn’t happen. I guarantee that UNI took Iowa for granted, not to mention they probably didn't prepare for Freeman to be playing or for some random nobody, Kelly, to shoot lights out. All in all UNI better focus and play better ball if they want to survive the Valley.
