No, you aren't dreaming. This should be close to it. Still some tweaking and figuring out logistics (e.g. how to get maps of all the courses), but well on the way!

BTW--I don't want the photo of my bad form up for everyone to see all the time, but (surprise, surprise) I don't have a lot of pics of players playing other than me or Tim. If you have a fabulous (disc golf) photo, please send it to me or to Corey.

Will it be rotating kind of like the old one? Gator has a ton of Disc Golf pictures.

I think we need some newer material. How about some of the pics you have from the Ice Bowl this year Amanda? We (Bushwackers) need to get a pic of us all together. That would definately be siteworthy. We'll take some this weekend on our trip to Ames. Any league pictures from this year? Pics from the Challenge?

Just throwin' some ideas out there.

I'm getting ready to purchase a sweet camera (Christmas time) for my Costa Rica trip next May, so I will be able to submit some current pictures soon.

I'm new to all this, and I'm kinda stupid, so take this for what it's worth.

Why have a DSM web site?

Something like 99.2% of web sites aren't updated in a timely manner (after they've existed for a couple months). And for specifically non-commercial sites, that number is something like 117%.

Seems like all the clubs in Iowa would have a better shot at providing valuable info by consolidating here at IowaDG. The clubs, then, would just have simple one-page sites that point to IowaDG. (Or multiple links pointing to specific spots on IowaDG, if you don't trust the user to get here and find what they're looking for.)

Beyond course info, tourney info, league info, club info, and a forum, what else do you need? And couldn't that all be housed here? And most of it available on the forum itself? I mean, a forum isn't the prettiest way to present info, but it might be the most efficient, and the most readily/easily updated.

Or maybe this site isn't interested in such a thing. I don't know.

1) I don't think the photos will be rotating. Corey might find a way, but I couldn't. But yes- Gator has a ton of photos and I will try to get ahold of him to get some.

2) Ice Bowl is another great idea. Without rotating, we might have to pick and choose photos that best represent what we do, but there are definately some great ones out there from the IB, Bushwacker, etc.

3) The site is mostly for us (the Club) to communicate to you and your neighbors in one, neat, tidy spot everything we can about us, DG and DG in DM. It is supposed to be a public face for disc golf in DM and be a point of contact for possible supporters/partners, people new to the area, people new to the sport, etc. We anticipate updating it at least monthly and it will be an organic, dynamic site that will, we hope, be constantly growing/changing to meet the needs of the community. At one point, we did consider dropping the site all together, but decided that the forums aren't always the best way to communicate with disc golfers and the community.

Thanks for the input Rodney, but the site is a much needed tool for the advancement of DSM disc golf.

The Club has/is going through a major overhaul and with it new energy. That new energy is going to keep up on things, i.e. updating the site.

I am personally going to see that the info is always fresh.

I understand where you are coming from and without motivated people it is exactly how you painted it, but is not going to be that way here. So enjoy the changes in the months to come.

Just checked out the website due to the Franklin Freeze - its looking nice! Dig the 1-2 column layout and I like the breakdown on the courses page. The navbar across the top and the color schemes look sharp, too. Keep up the good work! Helpful feedback - update the page title for the Home Page.

Thanks for the positive vibes, we were inspired by a very nice site some screwball put together for the QC Club

What do you mean for about the title update?? More than willing to change it, but need to know what you are getting at.

Later, Philips

I think he might just be pointing out the redundancy of the title "Des Moines Disc Golf Club" up on the title bar and then again with the logo. I may be wrong, and Keppy will let us know either way, so maybe I'll just shut up.

What he's talking about is the "PAGE 1" indicator int he title section of your code...

<title>Page 1</title>

Do a find/replace for "page 1", and rplace it with "Des Moines Disc Golf Club" :P

What Jason said.

When I load up the Home Page (when I'm redirected from dsmdiscgolf.org), the page title on the tab, up top, is "Page 1". The other ones are correct, like "About the DMDGC", "Courses", etc... just the Home Page one that needs a new title. Jason's advice to fix it is right on. Or maybe use that Starfield, Website Tonight thing. Hope that helps, good luck.

Brad Ellis, the orange man, THE man, is responsible for the QC club design. I'm just his henchman. And you're right, that dude's a total screwball.
