18 holes

A local told me they are getting 9 more holes at this course. Looks like they will be in the woods. Not a bad putter course, might need a mid.

Do you know if they are planning on modifying the original 9 if and when they add the additional 9?

I play there about 3 times a year and usually play a second round safari. It's not a bad chunk of land; the Buchanan county conservation board lists the park at 80 acres. It would be awesome if they were allowed to use the entire park for the course; you could have another championship course in the middle of BFE like Lamoni.

From talking to my step-brother who grew up in Winthrop, he says that the park is used for absolutely nothing other than a place for the local high schoolers to get tipsy, and that the current camping spots and trails are under utilized. This could be another park revitalization project that features a disc golf course (Prospect, Moline).

I have heard nothing about modification, but it could use some. Like you said there is so much land and the course is SO SHORT. I have played many safari rounds out there which makes it more interesting.

Buffalo Creek is considering expansion to 18 holes.
I contacted Dan Cohen of the Buchanan County Conservation Board, he mentioned that Cole Martinson of Independence, he runs the Buffalo Creek Ice Bowl, has been working on the course layout and on securing donations to help pay for the expansion.
The new course layout is planned for the area south of the existing course, through the woods and pine planting.

Do you know if the back nine will be short like the front or if it will be a bit longer? With some TLC the course could be pretty nice, just needs a little work.

Whats the word on expansion? Haven't been there this year with the Wildcat project keeping me busy but I like to get up there a couple times a year.

Great course for what they got to work with. Easy but can play tough.
