I want thte blue pins back!

Postby covey » Mon Jun 04, 2007 11:13 pm

I am still a total rookie but 5 or 6 rounds into my disc golf career my group when to Middle park for the first time. It was right around the time of the RCR and all the pins where pushed back to the blue pins. I played Camden and Prospect by then and thought I had something going on. Well Middle Park on the blue pins handed me my arse.

Again very early on my best on the all blue pins was something in the neighborhood of 14 over.

I have a decent drive now and I want another crack at tourney Middle Park.

Who is in charge of moving the pins around?

You'll need to talk to/PM DVS (aka "doesn't value shaving") about the schedule for moving baskets around. I'm not sure if it's a regular thing set up by the parks folks to minimize erosion or if it's at the mood of the person with the key. Dan will be able to tell you.

I think Dan just sets up the course to give him the best chance to play well. Hence the reason the baskets are constantly being moved.

So he throws a drive, then moves the basket to the position closest to his shot. (Then misses his putt.) Sounds like Dan...

I think holes 2-5 are ruined when they're not in the longs.

The new even shorter pins are down right boring.

The back 9 is pretty lame except that the new 16 is sweet.

I also long for the longs. However, I must say that whoever moves the pins (Dan probably) does a good job of rotating. I still haven't played all the pin positions and it is nice to see how much it changes some of the holes. Unfortunately sometimes the change results in "boring."

What's up with hole 13, the one that's so short right up the middle? Even a bad shot is usually a decent putt. Not too fond of that one. 14 also becomes pretty boring in the short placement. With the current configuration there are four holes that are all basically the same mid-range straight shot: 3, 10, 13, & 14. The terrain of this course seems to have too much potential for almost a fourth of the tee shots to be easy little poochers.

Sounds like I'm baggin on this course... I love this course. Just providing a personal opinion.

The pins won't be moved back until we play our make handicapped league round. I just don't have the time or the desire to move them twice in 3 weeks. Sorry guys.

Was my favorite setup that way I don't have to drive out to west lake to get pummeled by a course

Nice to have 1 and 4 back to the long pins now.

Just gotta move 14 back off the 195 foot pin and we will be getting some where.

Agreed. Thank you for moving 1 and 4 to whoever did it (Dan?).

Yepp Dan was the one who moved 1 and 4, probably would have moved more but he was having trouble with the key.

K.C., Eng, and I moved some baskets about 10 days ago. I snapped off my primary in 1's lock (when trying to remove the key)and K.C. bent my backup key in 5's lock. CRAPPY KEYS!!!!!!!!! I plan on moving 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 18 tomorrow with the Joe's backup key.

I learned from the GVCC that a shot of WD-40 the day before moving (unlocking) helps save keys, FYI.
