Can any of you North Iowans provide any info on course history up there?

http://iowadg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1585

Any info would help. As of right now there is no install date at all for East Park. An estimate would be fine if you don't know exactly.

Thanks!

I sent TJ all the information that I know. I have sent an e-mail to the Mason City Parks Department to see if they know when the course was installed and who designed it. I'll let you know if I hear something.

I've tried two different e-mail addresses and filling out an online form but everything keeps getting returned to me. Dave, do you have an e-mail address that would work or a way to get in contact with somebody?

results from june 17th

13 players

winning team:
Charlie Schroeder and Mark Skellenger score: 48

individual challenges:
Long Drive: Chris McDowell hole #7
Long Putt: Pat Sullivan #2
CTP: Manny Hernandez #1
Trick Shot: Jim Francis #5
$CTP: Mark Skellenger #6

We modified 1 tee:
#9, We shortened it up and put it right behind 4 volleyball posts. This tee shot required a sharp hyzer or anhyzer to make birdie.

Mark Skellenger won the CTP pool ($5)

No Aces this week. Ace pool #1 is $50 and Ace pool #2 is $6

This week's trick shot was on #5. It was the "longest drive that hits 1 or more trees." Pretty fun.

See you next saturday.

results from June 23rd

winning team:
Chris McDowell and Jim Francis score: 52

winning team (women's division)
Brittney Francis and Jackie Francis score: 60

individual winners:
CTP: Charlie Schroeder hole #3
Long Drive: Pat Sullivan # 9
Long Putt: Chris McDowell #5
Trick Shot: Pat Sullivan #2
$ CTP: Chris McDowell #8

This week we had 12 players. No Aces. Chris won $5 in the money CTP contest.

this week's trick shot was on #2. it was Left handed CTP. or "non-dominant hand" CTP. it was fun to watch everyone's attempt to throw with their off hand.

We changed #9's tee. we moved it further back to behind the path. straight back from the sewer hole.

1st Ace is $50, 2nd Ace is $10

We announced the tourney in coulter for june 30th. i'll be going to it. i can take 3 passengers with me, if anyone is wanting a ride. call me if you want a ride (423-5778). we'll grab a bite to eat at noon and head out to coulter for some practice before the tourney.

We are continuing to enforce the courtesy rule. especially the "multiple throws" rule. a lot of us, out of frustration at a bad shot, will throw a 2nd shot which doesn't count for any score.

These waste time and there are saftey issues and cheating issues that arise when shots like these are thrown. I am guilty as anyone else.

we have inforced it with a 1st time warning and 2nd (or more) times with a penalty stroke.

June 30th results:

Winning Team:
David Swartwood and Doug Krueger score:46

Individual winners:
CTP: Jon Francis hole#3
Long Drive: Doug Krueger #9
Long Putt: Nick Perry #1
Trick Shot: (Tie) Doug Krueger and Chris McDowell #19
$ CTP: Pat Sullivan #7

14 players
No Aces today, Pools are $50 and $14
Pat won $8 in the CTP Pool

-2 modified tees: #1 was moved to the East around 100 feet and to North of the stream. #7 tee was moved to straight west of the basket - at the top of Kentucky bridge.

Our Trick Shot was an extra (19th) hole. This was a made up hole and was optinal (due to time). I made the tee box on the path North of the Tennis courts. It was specifically between the 2 bear statues. We started there and played to basket #7. The distance was approximately 1/3 of a mile! There was really no fairway for this. We shot through trees, playgrounds, ponds, gazebos, parking lots, and pedestrians. It was a fun hole. We decided winner by lowest number of throws. We penelties for hitting streets, cars, and playground equipment; so it was pretty tricky.

We had a tie for the Trick shot with a 10 score:
Doug and Chris. We had them playoff with another made up hole to decide a winner. WE had them go from tee #1 to basket #2 and they both tied. So we left them as a tie.

Very fun trick shot this week!

Results from July 7th

winning team:
Mark Skellenger and Charlie Schroeder score: 45

individual winners:
CTP: Charlie Schroeder hole #1
Long Drive: Doug Krueger #9
Long Putt: Mike Hernandez #4
Trick Shot: (team) Mark Skellenger and Charlie Shroeder #2
$ CTP: Spencer Clausen #8

We had 16 players. All divisions grouped together. No aces. Spencer won $9 in the CTP Pool. Ace pools stand at $50 and $20.

2 tees were changed: #1 was moved North West and put behind 2 giant bushes, making for a high approch to the basket. And #8 was moved straight South, behind the stream.

The Trick shot was #2. it was "Teamates drives' that are the closest to each other." Mark and Charlie won by a margin of 5 paces - app. 15 feet apart.

Next week some of us will be going to Thorton to play in the singles tourney in the afternoon. We will start doubles play on time (9:30am) to try and make it to thorton a little early.

We had 17 players and Manny choose to play as single with a score of 49.

We moved 2 tees:

Results from Saturday July 28

Winning Team:
Chris McDowell and Pat Sullivan score: 47

Individual Winners:
Trick Shot: Rich Hernandez Hole #19
CTP: Pat Sullivan #2
$CTP : Chris McDowell #1
Long Drive: David Swartwood #9
Long Putt: Rich Hernandez #3

We had 9 players despite having the BBQ Bash Event going on at the park. Hole #1 was un playable so we moved it to basket #9 and threw from the North Shelter house. There was a huge camper in the way of basket #2, so we moved the tee further north. We also played the original #6 because of all the cars parked around.

Aaron Blaas volenteered to play singles, shooting a 56

No Aces this week. Pool is at $34. chris won $7 in the CTP pool.

Trick shot this week was an extra hole. Super long. we teed by basket #7 and played to basket #9. The winner was the low score, in which Rich shot it in 6 strokes.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We will start a CTP contest for those who come early - at 9:20am. The winner of the CTP contest will get a free entry into the $CTP pool.

We'll play "bottom half elimination" for this until there is 1 winner left.
Dave Swartwood was the winner for this week.

august 18 we will cancell disc golf because east park is having the civil war re-inactment (sp?) that weekend and they usually remove all the baskets.

keep 'em low!
