2007 Random Doubles League

Postby calvarycoffee » Sat Mar 10, 2007 11:27 am

Our League will be starting April 7th and going to October 27.

Each Saturday 9:30 AM
We will meet by basket #1, (#2 Shelter House)

18 holes - best disc format.
Teams of 2 will be randomly picked each week.

(in case of an odd number of players, the single player team will recieve 1 mulligan on each hole.)

We will have 2 age divisions for teams:
12-16 year olds
Adult (17 and up)

4 Individual Challenges include:
-Closest to Pin
-Longest Drive
-Longest Putt
-Trick Shot Challenge
(Trick Shot is a unique challege to try and duplicate. It will be a different challege each week and on a different hole each week.)
Past examples of Trick Shots include:
-Left handed shots
-Closest to objects other than the basket
-Closest to water hazard.
-shortest best drive
-upside down disc shots.
-hole to be played "disc vertical"
-hole to be played as "worst shot"

Up to 2 Tee locations may be modified week to week.

We will have 2 money pools this year (these are optional)
- $1 Ace Pool
- $1 CTP Pool
If no one Aces for the week, the cash will be carried over to the next week and the next until someone aces. -CTP pool: There will be 1 cash winner each week and the cash prize will vary according to that week's participants.

NEW RULE this year: time limit of 2 minutes for Disc Searching during your round. If a disc is not found or "fished out" within 2 minutes, new disc must be played in its place. Please prepare for this ahead of time by bringing multiple discs. After our round of play, there will be several people available to help with disc searching.

Our round of 18 holes usually lasts an hour; after which, most everyone stays for another round of single play.

League is getting very close! I was hoping to make "opening day" but I was just reminded last night that we have a wedding to go to on that day. I'm hoping that with the 9:30 am start that I will be able to play and still get home in time to go. Can you tell me about what time league usually gets over? Thanks.

you can even play in your nice wedding clothes, rob.

i just posted the info for doubles league around the NIACC campus. I sent in a few to get laminated, then i will post them around East Park course. They're basically what i wrote above, cut and pasted to the printer.

Got my car packed with discs and signs. I still have to find some orange cones for alternate tees, though.

hehe, i have a buck still in the ace pot from last year. i'll just add it to this years. I think i will donate a $20 bill to the ace pot to get it rolling. no one wants to win a $1 ace prize. hehe

-i have been looking all over - i can't find my Flash disc (main driver). i must have threw it in the icy pond last year - but i don't remember doing it- maybe it was too tramatic. . .

We had our league start saturday and it was pretty cold. Here is what happened:

10 players, we combined both juniors and adults this week.

winning Team:
Myles Parker and David Swartwood score: 50

We only had 1 challenge this week:

CTP winner: Mike Hernandez

All tees were the original. No Aces. ACE pot is $21

KIMT came by before we started playing and interviewed myself and got some shots of us playing the first hole. I didn't see it on the news, and i haven't heard of anyone seeing it either. oh, well.

Charlie and I will be gone this saturday for ACT's. but Myles will do the paperwork and money. I'll be out Tuesday around 4:30pm with the NIACC club. See you soon!

April 28 results:

12 players:

Winning Team: Doug Krueger and Manny Hernandez (47)
Winning Team (Ladies' Division): Christi Hernandez and Amanda Krueger (54)

Individual Winners:
Long Drive: Doug Krueger, hole 4
Long Putt: David Swartwood 3
Regular CTP: Doug Krueger 9
Money CTP: Aaron Bloss 9
Trick Shot: Jon Francis 2

No Aces today, Pool is up to $29. Aaron won $5 in the CTP Pool. Today's Trick Shot was a Farthest from the Hole (drive) #2.

We had two alternate tees today: #3 was longer and to the right. This made the pond a bigger hazard to avoid. #9 was shortened by 100 feet.

many discs in the water today. it seemed like everyone was fishing for discs after our round.

May 5th results:

We had 16 players and combined all divisions

Winning Team: David Swartwood and Myles Parker score:47

Individual Winners:
CTP: Doug Krueger, hole #4
CTP Money winner: Doug Krueger, #1
Long Drive: Doug Krueger, #1
Long Putt: Charlie Schroeder, #8
Trick Shot: Pat Sullivan, #9

Thanks to everyone for helping gather the challenge markers and cones after our round.

It was a gloomy day and a little windy. Us discgolfers were the only ones using East Park. That was nice.

We had no aces this week. The ace pool is at $35 for next week. Doug won $5 for the CTP Pool.
We moved #1 Tee further back an extra 70 feet, making for a good "long drive" hole. This week's trick shot was on #9. It was a "closest to the light pole" drive. The light pole sits 50ft right of #9's basket.

Results from May 12th

Winning team:
Doug Krueger and Myles Parker score: 48

Junior Winning team:
Mike Hernandez and Jon Francis score: 52

CTP:Chris McDowell Hole #2
Long Drive: Doug Krueger #7
Long Putt: Jon Francis #4
Trick Shot: Jon Francis #1

No Aces, Pool is $40 for next week. Jon Francis won $12 in the $CTP Pool. We had 12 players and everyone contributed to the CTP prize. Awesome!

the adult winners won outright, while juniors had a tie for first. Winners were decided by one CTP shot on hole #2. And Jon and Mike came away with it.

We moved 2 tees:
#8 was close to the river (right) and farther away. and #7 was moved left and a little farther away also.

Results from May 19

We had 18 players

Winning Team:
Manny Hernandez and Mark Skellenger score 47

Individual Winners:
Trick Shot: Ryan Bailey hole #1
CTP: Cody Blackdeer #8
$ CTP Manny Hernandez #2
Long Drive: Clint Blackdeer #4
Long Putt: Jim Frances #5

Trick shot was #1, it was "Drive, closest to center of fairway."

Alternate Tees:
#2 was moved back and right (close to bunny ride)
#4 was moved to the left and close to the walking trail

Manny made an Ace on #2 but did not put a dollar into the ace pool. But he did win $16 because it was the $ CTP hole. There also was some confusion on his ace because the group in front was still putting on that hole when it happened.

So the ace pool is at $50. We have capped it and started another ace pool. the second pool is at $3. We had a junior division today, but for some reason, they quit during there round to fish for their discs.

Some players have expressed interest in a new pool for the winning team. We may start that as our group gets bigger.

Remember, NO DOUBLES NEXT WEEK, for band festival weekend.

I will be out of town and most of the regulars will be gone also.

Rob or Mark will you guys be there?

If so, you guys will have to wing it. We will hold off on the money stuff this week and next week. I'll be back for June 16 doubles.

someone can bring some playing cards and do teams.
