Tourist Park

Postby WaterlooChainSeeker » Sat May 19, 2007 7:14 pm

I think someone once told me that this park is the oldest disc golf course in iowa, im not sure of that but here it goes. This park is 18 holes about a mile away from the University of Northern Iowa and it has to be the busiest course i have ever seen all of it traffic coming from the surrounding college. Short holes and grass that wants to grow but between traffic, flood and sturgis falls festival beer spillage has no real chance of ever happening, the 18 holes play very short and close to each other with none over 400ft. If you have a big throw leave it at home and any seasoned player should post -10(44) or better with 18 ace possibilities! Fun park to play because it is quick and a plenty of college beauties on any given day.
The ability to drive 400 is great...
The ability to putt 4 from 30 ... not so great!

So WCS, are you a member of the Black Hawk Metro Disc Golf League? If not you should come out on Monday nights at 6 PM. The last 2 weeks we played Tourist Park.

This week and next we have league at Deerwood Park in Evansdale. Then we play 2 weeks Exchange Park. After that we rotate between all 3 courses.

Come out and play!

By the way... Tourist Park is not only the oldest course in Iowa but was also the 3rd permenate course ever installed in the entire world back in July 1976.

Yes, by several years but that guy got his 1st ACE on that course at age 12.

He told me the other day that he got 5 ACES last week giving him a total of 43. I've been playing since 1976 and only have 47. I'm betting that he will pass me by July. lol.

FRISBEE, I am in fact not a member. I have wanted to come out and play mondays with you guys for about 3 years now but mondays just dont work for me and i am pretty bad at obligations such as that. I hate signing up to play so many weeks and than canceling every week cause i have to work or all that BS. I jujst play waterloo a lot and there was not talk about the courses on here so i figured i woul devote a hour and do a write up.

Visit CF and play Tourist

Postby Fuller » Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:26 pm

That is if the water is not too high....a former UNI student married to a native CF'er I've played Tourist a ton. Its a great way to spend 45 minutes in CF. You probably will not pull out the driver too much, and be weary of the loads of humans with not much throwing room. North Cedar is home to Sturgis Falls as well, remember when your downing beers and chucking the cup, your littering on YOUR disc golf course. Its a Disc Golf Monument - 3rd oldest in the nation. Enjoy!

open

Postby brox » Tue Jul 29, 2008 8:45 pm

This course is open, played it Monday 28th. 15 and 17 are gone. Looks like 15 is gone for good due to construction. 17 the basket is laying in the middle of the fairway. Always lots of fun.

so is it harder or easier to ace 17. Me and a friend started a tradition of playing that hole with a putter-thumber. Never aced that hole after that.

PS the hole is only about 115 ft for those of you that don't know.
