Eastern's Long Tees getting crete

Eastern's Long Tees getting crete

Postby DVS1 » Mon May 14, 2007 12:35 pm

They're currently installing concrete in the longs at Eastern. Are there any longs we want moved? I (as well as some others) think that 13's short should become the long tee and a shorter tee should go in. What does everyone else think? Any other thoughts?

there really isn't any place to move a lot of them.

but if they are putting them in now, it's kind of late isn't it?

I also think that the long tee position on 13 is nothing more the adding distance not making any change to the shot thrown.

They said they are only doing so many today which from what I have seen so far are only 1, 5, 2, 3.

I like the idea of 13 closer and to the left. Maybe shelter that tee with the tree in the middle of the fairway off left.

I also think the same thing about 14. Its a stinky skeeter fest back there for most the summer.

Like to see 2 in a flatter position so it isnt uphill off the tee. You could say, they will flatten and tamp it down, but alot of the tees at middle slope downhill. That isnt flat.

Bringing the long tee out a little on 7 wouldnt be bad either. A few feet never killed anyone.

Just my opinion.

Two is already poured today but they did look like the pad had been leveled. They aren't set in to the ground but not really set above ground level so I hope they fill around the pads.

The front nine are already poured, and they are going to work on the back tomorrow. I met up with the guy during my lunch break (the same guy I had to talk OUT of pouring on Friday morning...poor chap), and we moved the long pad for 13 and created a short tee pad to the left of that tree(s), so the current tee pad will be the "long". I think its a great solution, and actually offers even a bit more challenge, cuz people can reach it...and are closer to the bend of water to get wet!

That is great! Are they going to make more signs that tell the footage of both tees and pars? If not i will just go to quadcitydiscgolf.com!

Eventually the city is going to have to replace a few tee signs that have been either vandalized, stolen, or broken. I'm sure this sign will just be included in that budget. As far as the other signs...I could be mistaken, but I *think* the long tee pads are already marked and have distances posted. I've been wrong before, though...

When I talked to the city gentleman on Friday (when we were hoisting park benches into the truck and trying to figure out how they went together), he was exstatic that all the work was getting done. They LOVE how popular that course is, and are willing to put some time and money into it.

If you have a chance, draft a simple letter of appreciation, park boards eat that stuff up...and our rapport gets better and better! (And, from the sounds of it...they really do want Credit Island to have a course, as well as Fejervary Park...somewhere down the road.)

It sure would be nice to install some new basket positions while the concrete is available. Any plans in the works?

The Eastern baskets weren't installed with sleeves, they were installed to be permanent. Without digging out the existing concrete, chipping it all down to the pole, and then purchasing 38 new sleeves...it just isn't really feasible or necessary. Until we ever start running into real concerns out there with placements, accept the reality that that is where they will be staying for a while.

Thank you for voicing your concerns, though. We HAVE talked about that in the past, and its not *impossible*...its just a whole lot of hard work that isn't necessary at this point.

I know its too late but I thought 13 short position would be cool as an anhyzer shot from the tree line
opulence, I has it.
