Ames courses up and running yet?

Postby chalupamarley » Thu May 10, 2007 1:24 pm

I'm planning on coming to Ames/Des Moines next week.

Are the Ames courses playable yet?

Thanks for the input.

I've been to both courses this week. Both are playable. However, they are both pretty littered with downed branches and whatnot from the ice storm we had in February. They're waiting until the ground is dry to get their equipment on the courses to clean up.

Carroll Marty is the worst for downed limbs and this affects playability on a few holes.

ISU has trimmed up most of the hanging limbs, but hasn't picked them up from the ground. Floodwaters have receded and there doesn't seem to be any ill effects from that. However, since they couldn't get the mower in there, the grass is quite long.

Thanks Cydisc. Which do you think is more fun to play? Well probably only play one before going to DSM.

Have a good one.

They're both really fun to play, but I'd give the edge to ISU. ISU probably has more challenge and it's in a little better shape as far as playability.
