Who wants to be a centerfold?

Postby NorthIowaBuzz » Wed May 02, 2007 3:09 pm

If you haven't guessed it yet by the name, I own the newspaper here in North Iowa called the North Iowa Buzz. We distribute 10,000 copies to Cerro Gordo county and the 8 counties that surround it.

Since there are becoming more and more disc golf courses here in north Iowa and the sport really seems to be growing, I thought it would be appropriate to do an article on it here in our June issue.

Dave, you're already on my hitlist for an interview, but is there anyone else that would like to throw me a quote or two? Are there any pro's up in the north Iowa area that we could talk to?

I will probably swing out some Saturday morning and get some pictures of people playing, so make sure you say "Cheese"

Thanks!

"pro" is hard to define here. Rob P, Nick D, and Mark S all have PDGA #'s. But, they don't rely on disc golf to feed their families.

I don't know of any local "pro's." If your talking about really really good players; imo, Nick DiMarco and Hans Schroeder are the best I've seen locally.

If your talking about knowledge of the game and current events I'd say myself, Rob, or Rusty, is your go to guy.

Yeah man, I am all about helping out also. I was the person who designed and installed the course in Northwood. It was installed in November '06. I also have a lot of knowledge of the game, and would love to share anything or be in pictures. Heck ya!

i would have put him in the "pro" category last year.

Once he burns off those tootsie rolls, he'll get back in the grove. . .

The course in Northwood is located in Swensrud Park. Which is on the southwest side of town. If you know where the pool is you are in the right place. Hole 1 starts by the playground and horse shoe pits. I play on it everyday after work around 6pm. So if you are every up to play you will most likely see me.

are people out there playing it? i'm interested to see how long it will take for word to spread to the local people about it.

Hmm. . . I'll have to plan an evening trip up. . .

Aw hell, I can't believe I'm no longer on Dave's "pro" list this year...guess I'll stick to ball golf and mass amounts of candy. Mmmmm candy. (yeah right)

Wait a second, how is Hans still on the list? Has anyone even seen him in 07? Heh heh, not me anyway.
