Best course in North Iowa?

Postby NorthIowaBuzz » Tue May 01, 2007 9:17 pm

Is East Park the best course in the north central Iowa area? Is it only 9 holes or 18? Are there any other 18 hole courses in north central Iowa?

Thanks!

That depends on what you consider "North Central Iowa".

Here is a list of courses within 40 miles of Mason City:
Thornton, Northwood, Forest City, Lake Mills, Greene, Hampton, Belmond, Crystal Lake, Coulter

These are all 9 hole courses. Best course in our area is really a matter of opinion. I haven't played all these courses but I would say that my favorite has to be the new one in Thornton.

i went to thorton last week, but no baskets were up yet.

i must say, i was impressed with belmond's course. the money spent on signage and stuff is good.

but, i don't think there is a "championship" calibur course around here, if that's what you mean.

I drove by Thornton on my way home from Mason on Sunday and there were up. Belmond probably has the best signs in the area and the course is pretty fun too. You're right Dave, North Iowa doesn't have a championship caliber course... yet.
