New Forum Idea

Postby 10up » Mon Apr 23, 2007 10:29 am

I know this may qualify in the "too much work for something you don't care about" category. But could we make some type of Forum labeled something close to "Crap people have posted that bug Dan" and then give me some kind of moderator rights to throw stuff in there?

I would use discretion, I'd probably start with any number of the retarded Cubs threads, and move my way into that "Drinking on the Course" thread that somebody started in the Des Moines Forum for whatever reason.... Actually, come to think of it, I'd probably reverse that order.

Either way, I think in the end it will help everyone so they don't get tired of going into a place and having to sift through the crap because they think "oooh something new" from the little orange thing as I have done so many times.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks Mike/Brad

I was just thinking about that. I read a forum for fedex drivers and their moderators will move/remove any post that drifts from the topic at all. Memo to Dan: reread as necessary.

:lol: :lol: dude...

I am part of a technology forum where the admin/moderators really clamp down & edit @ will, and split threads as needed. After seeing people's stories drift here & there, etc, I kind of think that the other site is run better. But this is a much more casual environment w/ less moderators, too... LOL

Maybe I wasn't clear, I couldn't care less about hijacking as long as the hijack is more interesting than the initial topic. I just want to bundle all the stuff that annoy's me together in a corner that I don't look at all too often. Hijack away, just don't get serious about how you shouldn't be having a beer walking down Grandview's Fairway.

speaking of hijacking, I don't think that was the case... I think Matt was concerned about people catching hell for doing somethign simple that they believed wasn't an issue. He was trying to increase awareness, not lecture anyone...

If your pee isn't clear, you probably need to drink more water.

I believe that by that little exchange I may have diluted the integrity of the underlying request in this topic, which I apologize for, but still make the same request.

I think we should have a running tally that accounts for the number of times somenone has a thread drift. Then at the awards ceremonie for the IA Tour, give an award for the least amount of thread drifts (has to have an ample amount of posts). That may motivate some people to not post "Stuff that bugs Dan". I wouldn't mind seeing an award for most posts, but we all know who would shatter that;

In this picture someone was asking him how many posts on the Iowadg website he averages per 30 minutes. :lol:

I'm thinking he's holding up how many tourney wins he had? Because I KNOW Jay posts more than 4 an hour... :P
