I will work for a course...

Postby K.C. » Tue Nov 14, 2006 4:55 pm

Well, just thought I'd give everyone an update that looks at this section. (Hopefully that will grow over time.)
- We have authorization from both the city and the park board to start working on the course.
- All of the money for this course came from city funding and city grants, so there will be no money coming out of pockets this time around (thank God!). And, from the looks of it, the money available should be more than adequate.
- We're all trying to round people up for some work days here or there this fall/winter/spring so that we can finish this course up by next spring. (Should be VERY do-able.)

So, if anyone is even remotely interested in helping with the course...please email me or PM me, and I'll gladly get you involved. But, if you're the lazy ass that just sits around until everyone else does the work for you...the course will be available soon.

First work day: this Saturday, November 18th. (No, Harmon, I'm not trying to steal participants. If anyone is NOT planning on going to Muscatine, let me know...I still have some room in my van if you need a ride. We're just going to get started, anyway. But, don't break plans if you plan on going to Muscatine, that should be great time!) I'll keep everyone informed as to our next work day. (So you all can not come to that one, too.) :D

Course Budget Meeting

Postby K.C. » Fri Dec 15, 2006 9:58 am

Last night we met with the "Iowa Great Places" committee (where most of our funding is coming from), and started finalizing our budget. So, in order to either bore ya’all to death, or if anyone is in any way interested, here are some details:

- 21 Gateway Titan 24 Baskets (18 holes, 2 practice pins, 1 extra)
- 41 Permanent Sleeves (2 per hole, 2 for practice, 3 for tourny use)
- 36 Concrete Pads (5’ x 14’)
- 3 All Weather Pads (for tournament use only)

I’m going to continue beggin’ for help from anyone with time, and from anyone who actually shows respect for the work involved in creating the courses we all love to play on. We’re going to start work again at the beginning of the year, and hope that we can be done by mid-spring.

Don't forget the added support of the Iowa Gaming Commition. It sounds like Mike, Chad, and Clue play enough poker that they are probably breaking even with their $5000 donation.

Chainsaws, polesaws, pruners, machetes, weed-eaters, rakes, and stuff like that.

I'm meeting a few people at my work at 9 to carpool up there, so if you want to jump in with one of us, you're more than free to do so. (That goes for anyone wishing to help out.) If at all interested...just PM me or email me, and I'll get you directions to my work, or to the future course...if you wish to meet us all there instead.

HUGE thanks goes out to everyone that helped out today! We had 21 people there at one time, and 15 people there for most of the time. That was pretty "swell". We got both fairways on 16 and 17 cleared out, and that was the part I figured would take the most time for this whole process. (and I'm REALLY happy with how they turned out, too)

So, again, thanks everyone. I'll get another day set up in a couple weeks for whomever might be interested in helping out.

Eagle Work Day 21/22 April

Postby Alex O » Fri Apr 13, 2007 11:48 am

Who's available to work on Eagle Point Park this upcoming week, April 16 -22? I'm looking at either 21/22 for sure, but if there's interest during the week, please let us know. I understand that concrete will be poured very soon, pending Naab's schedule and weather and how quickly we get this work done.

We're scheduled to work here on Saturday 4/21 at 10:00. Don't skip Geneseo league for it, but if you're down for helping out, the more the merrier.
