higher end bag advice

Postby troyrugg » Mon Aug 26, 2013 11:22 pm

Im looking into a new bag but with so many options id like some opinions. Gonna head to titan and look at some but wanted some input. Im thinking grip or a similar style backpack w some extra storage. Im a fairly big guy w wide back, not sure how well the backpack style fit bigger guys. Any input or tjoughts welcome.

After rupturing a disk in my back last year, I switched to a Grip and couldn't be happier. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that it rides so much higher than my Voodoo Mojo + quads set up.

Just my $0.02

Nothing carries like the back pack bags. Just depends on what you want to spend. If cost is no concern, go for a grip.

its pretty hard to go wrong with a grip bag. the price can scare some people away, but you won't ever need to buy another golf bag again. great warranty included, too.

I'm thinking about getting the new one from Salient Discs. $119 for a backpack that's made in the USA. Free shipping on preorders ends the 31st I think.

Any additional advice on this topic?

Thinking about ditching my Revo Carolina bag that has been crazy durable for six years - for a backpack style, likely the GRIP. I've heard it tips over easy, but also noticed the new model that is scheduled to ship on 5/30 features "enhanced standup stabilization"

I've switched from a Grip to a Ranger since I last posted. I love it. It does wear on your shoulders a bit after taking it on and off after a long day. But the storage is amazing. Can fit a big Jacket +, inside the top compartment. Doesn't tip over as easy as the Grip, but it has a few times.

Guess I'll wait to invest since the market is shifting so much. For personal reference, my take as it currently stands:

Grip is most expensive and most popular.
Ranger is a popular cheaper alternative.
Ergo2 is the up-and-comer peoples champ.
Simian has a built-in stool.
Gateway is a classic low-cost option.
Salient has reports of quality issues.
Much anticipation for upcoming Prodigy backpack, Lat64 backpack, and new HyzerBomb bag.
