Comet throwers enter. please...

Postby iowapat » Fri May 10, 2013 7:56 am

Thinking about picking one up this weekend and just have a couple questions...

What shots are using this disc for?

In what plastic?

Is there a point in having both a Comet and Buzzz SS in the bag?

Comet is flippier than Buzzz SS. Good for shorter turnover shots, or flat shots that finish on an anhyzer. I have thrown one for 2 years now and love it..

No. I have a brand new max weight one and it turns into a roller with a tailwind. Havent found any use for it, at all.

It depends on how hard you throw it. Put some hyzer on it nose up and it will finish straight as an arrow as long as you aren't trying to reach 450' with it. I find the Z to be less stable than the ESP by a touch. I just got a glow Z and it seems a touch more stable than the ESP but I haven't thrown it much yet. I love the Commet and now carry 3 of them. They are much more predictable than a Buzz or a Meteor for a lower power thrower. They can be thrown by high power guys but some finese is a must, Ben Callaway is using them now.

I've got three in the bag. one glow, one midnight z and one x. They cover about 90% of my midrange duties.

I love the comet. I rarely throw it, but it's always in the bag. I use it at turkey quite a bit. Hole 14 up to the right for example. It's like throwing a putter but it glides further.
If it kills, I got news, it ain't a side effect

Flies just like my beat in KC Rocs...only in better plastic so that they hold that sweet spot for a looooong time

love my comets packing 2 right now , an x and red z 175. great glide and seen by some as a training disc to develop clean throws. esp plastic comets are now in production and seem to be very popular on disc golf sites.

^^ True ^^

The glide that the comet has, even at low speeds, can lend itself to some long come back putts.

I haven't thrown the comet since the original plastic. I wonder if the M4 that I've been trying is similar. That one also goes far.

Remember Ron Russell used to throw the original Comet. Some of his Comet shots were longer than I would have expected him to use it for too.
