I agree with Kevin. Water release at Coralville lake today - 10,000 cfs, 12,000 cfs tomorrow and 14,000 cfs on Saturday. Write off playing 11-16 for a couple of weeks for sure. It is too bad because the city mowed the backside last week and it was looking excellent.

6/8/13.
#3 Totally under water.
#4 Just the teepad area.
#11-16? Also completely under water.

You can cross the ditch after 1 again, its only a little sopped. Grass is knee high everywhere. Nettles are king.
Playable holes: 1, 2, 5 red, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17, 18.

Happy to announce holes #3 and #4 back in action!
The city came through and mowed the outside (2-10 haven't been mowed), then I came through and weed whacked for 4 hrs on Saturday.
Holes #11-16 are still under water, with the latter soon rising from the marsh. Won't be ready by Wed unfortunately. Condolences Bushwhackers.

Pants and bug repellent are worth their weight in gold out here.

Everything is above water with the exception of #5 blue. Inside holes were mowed, outside holes are knee high currently. The city did a good job considering the obstacles in there. Feel free to chuck the larger branches off the fairway. Please and thank yous!

There are fallen trees on holes #8 (right before the long pin), hole #10 (middle fairway, NBD), and covering hole #17's blue pad.
There are no pins on #13, 14, and 16. These could go back, though I didn't check the condition of the sleeves.

Hole #13's pads needs excavating. Shovels would work...heavy machinery would work better. I will send a request to the city. #14's pads are also coated, just not 3 ft. deep. A shovel here wouldn't take long.

I will also do a lil choppy choppy this week to put our fallen soldiers to rest. Wed afternoon most likely.

The city mowed the rest. Yea! Pen is in decent shape today. I weedwhacked for 1 1/2 hrs. this morn, mostly on the closed holes. I ran out of string to cut open #14's walk-way. Also noticed a tree fell/floated onto 14's blue tee sign. I checked the sleeves and figure we'll need a small shovel and some WD-40 for the locks. 15's red sign has been uprooted from water, as well as 14's long pin placement, though that might straighten out with a rope and a truck.

Also, my guy at the city is on vacation, and won't be back til the 22nd.

I shoveled out both pin sleeves holes #11-16, and lubed the locks. Pins are ready to go back in. The city pushed the fallen tree off of #17 blue tee, but some chainsaw action still needs to happen.

Now featuring 18 holes!
#13's red tee is still under sand. #5 blue has a pool in the middle of its fairway.
I cut up the mess on #8 and hauled it off, cut up the fallen tree on #10, and cleared #17's blue pad. Also dug up more sleeves because almost all locks have been buried. Used my truck to straighten the sleeve on #14 long. Cut an entrance to #14.
There's a broken tree on #4 to cut up, fallen tree on #14 red, and some remnants from my other cuttings that could be chucked off the fairway. Any help is greatly appreciated
Course is all longs still, except #1, 13, 16 is on the left.
No gnats. Thick with mosquitoes.

So being gung-ho about reopening the pen, this crazy m-er f-er went and dug out the tees on 13. That was 3 hours straight of shoveling fellas. One pad was about 4" deep, the other, 4'! Then, I came back w/ Josh McFarland, dug out the rest of the sleeves, lubed locks and moved pin locations short. We also hauled off a cut up tree on #10. Thanks Josh!

All I have left to do is saw up some stuff on 4, and 14. Maybe mow/whack blue #2 fairway.

It really looks great out there, flooding has kept a lot of growth down in the fairways. Bring that mosquito repellant!

Put in 4 hrs. weedwhacking 2-5. And another 4 hrs. sawing down dead trees on 3 &4. Enjoy!

And I put hole #13 in the long. Hopefully they'll mow it.
