3x state champ runner up wrote:Yeah lindsel, I think I only know about 20 guys on the list, clue is in a tough spot, everyone wants in but there are only 64 spots. One constuctive criticism I have when looking at people's ratings is, the 13 seed in the cremer bracket is Kirk, i assume jesse kirk on the pdga site, now no offense to captain kirk as i dont know him from adam but he has two rounds from one intermediate tourney. Now compare that to a Grimm, greenwood, potter, Conrad, these guys have an established resume. I understand we have a whole season ahead of us and this mock bracket is exactly that, I just hope that clue, since this is his baby, can stand behind and justify each invite. If this bracket was final I think people could and would have a legit gripe.
You bring up a good point and I did notice the 2 round rating. Still not in the top 32 which would be the only thing that matters, however I'm going to amend the qualification to minimum 10* rated rounds. Now, if somebody is close and there are 2-3 tournaments that didn't get reported for the July update then I might make an exception.
In all honesty I was fearful that I wouldn't even be able to fill the 64 player bracket. I honestly figured that maybe only half of the 32 automatic qualifiers would play leaving 48 open spots. With it being a 2-day event and a semi-hefty price tag I wanted to make sure I simply filled the bracket with little regard to the quality of players. My hope is that going forward this will be a coveted tournament to get into and we will get the best 64 players in Iowa to compete, but there's little urgency for me this year. I just want to have a good time and get the word out!
BTW, I was oblivious to the Shueyville tournament. I just read about it not getting on the schedule and am going to add it asap as well as send an apology note. I certainly hope this doesn't adversely affect that tournament. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time and being virtually last on the schedule this was the only weekend I thought was remotely reasonable.
