It believe was 2002 at the Des Moines Challenge when I first met Becky? It was my first competitive tournament outside of Ottumwa. I was nervous and could barely contain myself.

She must have saw my worry in the sign-up tent and kindly took me aside and spoke with me in private about what to expect at the tournament. She told me that everyone there would help me relax and have fun. "Because that's what disc golfers do. They have fun" she said. She was right, everyone I played with had an attitude of ease and enjoyment.

I have seen many posts on here about how instrumental she has been to the DM golf scene and the sport of disc golf in general. I see the love and support you have all given to her in her times of need. I commend you all for being dear friends to her.

I have seen Becky only a few times since that tournament and may have spoken to her once. Regardless, I will never forget the kindness and willingness she displayed to help a stranger feel at ease. I think of her every time I go to Ewing. That is where she made me feel at home when I felt worlds away. Thank you Becky! I will never forget that.

Not only our sport, but the world needs more people like Becky.

My thoughts are with you during this time and I pray that you have a speedy recovery!!

I heard a bit about this back when my son was first diagnosed. This is something that no one can ever understand, the pain the worry the frustration the fears. You never ever get to rest...it feels like every time something is starting to go good you remember that at any moment it can change horribly. My heart goes out to you Becky. Keep your head up...

Mark Gates reported on Facebook tonight that Becky passed at 8:00 pm. At this time of giving thanks, I can only thank God for Becky. She graced all of us with her love and generosity!! She will be greatly missed, and always remembered.

RIP Becky. We lost a true disc golf HOF'r tonight in every sense of the distinction. She brought a contagious energy to the course EVERY time I saw her. Prayers to Kuzi and family during this tough time.

Becky is not suffering in pain anymore and that is something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season. She was an awesome person and a great representative for disc golf. She was an especially great advocate for juniors and female disc golfers. The juniors events that she ran in Urbandale back in the 90's were the first time that Alison and Benjamin got to play against kids their age. Before that I am not sure they believed me when I told them other kids played disc golf. Becky was very supportive and proud of Alison's accomplishments at the World Jr. Frisbee Championships in 97,98,and 99. She often mentioned Alison in the Des Moines Dis Golf newsletter back then and treated Alison like one of Des Moines' own many years before she actually lived in the Des Moines area. As a role model for girls and women, she was as good as any Pro World Champion. My wife and I used to see Becky and Sandy at places like Sterling IL in the early 90s and I thought it was really cool that two women would go that far to a tournament by themselves. It was not that common then. God bless Kuzi and Jon and Sandy and their families.
