PDGA round rating not included??

Postby stover720 » Tue Sep 11, 2012 8:45 pm

So I just checked my pdga rating for the first time in a while. My rating was actually higher then I expected since I only played two tourneys this year (sucked at both). Current rating is 954. I had one horrible round at turkey that was an 856 and it says that round is not included. Do you know why this would be?

the pdga gives you a free be and withholds the 1 worst round you have thrown and does not include that in your ratings

If it is so far off of your normal they throw it out.

I think it's a statistial calculation. I've seen guys with lots of rated rounds have more than one round thrown out. If you have a good sample size, rounds that fall too far outside (below) your bell curve get tossed. Good thing they don't toss ones from the other side.

Correct -- the "one lowest round" is a bit of mis-information.

"
All rated rounds you have played and have been reported to the PDGA within 12 months of your most recently rated round will be included in the calculation. However, if any one of those ratings is either more than 100 points below your average rating or more than 2.5 standard deviations below your rating – whichever number is smaller – that round will not be included.
"

Or at least that's what they said on the internet, so it must be true:

the round gets dropped if it's 100 points below your rating or outside 2.5 Standard Devations.

Cool.. Good to know. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an error or something. Never noticed one not being included before.

So I'm pretty sure the only "rated" round I ever played was the first year of Westlake.

So I'm in a position where the only round I've ever thrown is at least a hundred points off my average so I want it to be thrown out.

My Rating is 0

I think you have to have so many rounds rated for one to drop. I want to say the number is 8 but I'm not sure.
