We Bought A Basket

We Bought A Basket

Postby AaronK » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:57 pm

Hey everyone, just wanted to fill you in on a new fundraiser that will be in effect for this summer. With the help of the Iowa City disc golf community, I will be collecting returnable cans and bottles with the goal of raising $500 to buy a new practice basket and sleeve for the peninsula disc golf course.

Why you ask? Well, several reasons; First, the one we have now gets crowded during tourneys and other baskets are not close enough to be a good alternative. Also, several baskets on the course have come very close to falling trees, and one day we could lose one to this natural hazard. It would be nice to have a backup ready to go in case this happens.

Here's where I need your help; instead of taking back your cans or leaving them for the homeless peoples, bring them to vicious circle Thursday league where I can collect them from you for returns. If you have large amounts stockpiled I can come get them from you at your house. If you are discing at a local course, you can take a plastic bag with you and pick up the cans that rec players leave on the ground.

Some people have asked about making direct money contributions, those will be gladly accepted, but no one is expected to do this to help reach our goal. Also if you want to recycle your own cans or bottles and bring the payment to me that is of course ok as well.
I have also made little posters that people can have to bring to their work place if you would like to start collecting cans for the basket
there as well.

If anyone would like to reach me privately my email is aaron.k003@yahoo.com or 319 331 6329.

I probably forgot some crucial info at this point so more to come I'm sure. Thanks for your help, start saving cans!

Alright, another good week! The fund is up to $34.35 after two weeks, thanks to jim and Dave for the donations, along with the winners from last week's vicious circle league. Keep drinking and bringing your cans.

Are you going to do a fundraiser for my liver when this catches up to me?

Ok funds are now up to $78.85. Thanks go out to winners of vicious circle league winners from the last two weeks for donations from winnings. I've also been told that peninsula will be mowed every two weeks from now on so I'm expecting larger donations from the rec'ers now that the course is laying well!

LOL donations from the rec'ers...at least with the grass cut more we should be able to spot those old donations in the weeds.

$99.85. Another good week. Also, the can shed gave me some large boxes for glass so I can give those out and then collect them from you later. Just let me know if you want one.

Hey Aaron, #4's trash can is overflowing with nickels. If you've got some time, it will be worth a bunch of $$.
