1. Ams shouldn't get paid cash-- in my opinion..

2. Running this series does take a lot of planning, time, and effort so unless someone in des moines just loves to volunteer with no payback, it could be a tough sell.

I brought it up a number of times when I was on the club board, but it got shot down due to the vending side of things. A club is not stocked well enough to have a tourney style payout every week, so its best if a vendor runs it. So the club league, as is, continues on.

The Throwdown is the closest thing we have to a weekly mini series, but to make the leap it needs to rotate to different courses , ixnay the handicaps, and keep a season point total.

It's monthly and don't do a merch pay out do cash. And work out some rules so someone doesn't just bag a division.

You cant work out the rules.People are going to bag, and for cash they will bag harder....and the reason things like this doesnt happen more is because people would pay the ams cash.Thats part of the dysfucntion of disc golf, the part where Am players feel they should be getting paid cash. Thats pretty much a direct result of non-vendors running events/leagues whatever. If you want cash man up and play open.

Thanks to Chase and Jess for running this. Not only do they devote a whole evening every other Wednesday, but have to do a running total for everyone who enters, since this is a cumulative scoring series.
The best part of the series is that you have to be a total player to do well. There are long courses like Credit Island, wooded courses like Camden two, water hellholes like Devil's Glen and West Lake, and windy, hilly courses like Longview and Richmond Hills. In a single tourney, some might have a "home course" advantage. That can happen still, if someone has 10 "home" courses.
Then to top it off, the grand finale, 2 rounds at Matzen lake. Wow!
If you live among almost a dozen courses and don't have a series like this, too bad.
We Quad Citians are truly blessed. 10 local courses AND Iron Lion! 'Nuf said.
In the QCs we ams get paid out in fun! Way better than a few $$$.

Thanks Gene. It is alot, but it benefits the business so its well worth it. I also think it helps people to play the other area courses and to try to get more people involved with competitve golf.

Anytime we have a chance to showcase QC disc golf, we jump at it.

A heads up to all the KOC folks:

We will hopefully be working on Camden 1 tomorrow night. Stay updated through FB. If it is raining or too wet we will try again Thursday night and if all else fails we will work on Saturday. We need weed whips, shovels and rakes for mulch, and strong backs. Please let me know if you have any questions.

It looks like the rain is going to hold off until at least 7:00 tonight so I would like to get stuff cleaned off the fairways + long tees and spread mulch around baskets. If we can't get it all done today we can finish up on Saturday. I should be there around 4:00 tonight.

EASTERN TONIGHT

Meet by HOLE 11 Parking Lot ( by Pool )

Tonight I will/may not be doing the Am payout afterwards, as Jessica is still on vacation. If there is alot of people I will post results online and your funny money will be waiting for you. If its a problem, I can always do it afterwards, but Im afraid it may be a late one tonight as Eastern can get crowded.

Just a reminder, there will be no Am payout at King of The Courses tonight.

Scores will be figured and if you have a payout, it will be waiting for you at the Shop, probably Thrusday at some point.

Jessica not being there is one reason, the other is attendance. Not every KOC is going to be huge but occasionally we get the the Eastern turnouts and its just too much to do without making mistakes....so get used to it. This method will probably become standard at some point.

Advanced Division payouts have been revised.. There was an entire card that counted par by less one hole.. We are not adding the 2 stroke pdga penalty to those players, but in all fairness they will "lose" the tie breakers caused by their lack of double checking their scorecard..

Revised Adv Division payout for King of Courses # 5, Richmond Hill

1. Wes Jacobson 57 $40 payout
2. Justin Densburger 57 $29
3. Don Hunkel 58 $20
4. Dan Swanson & Ryan Hillary 59 $14 each (will receive same points)
6. Mike Whiteside 60 (wins tie breaker) $10
