staggered tee times and storm delays

Postby Discgo » Wed Apr 11, 2012 11:37 am

How does the pdga handle this type of situation? If the morning crowd finishes their round and the afternoon players do not does the round count? If there is a storm that prevents groups from teeing off do they push back all tee times or reschedule the ones that could not start. I asked on the gbo thread on dgcr and was told not to worry about it and they would figure it out if it came up.

what does the Pdga have to do with it?
If she can't swim....she's bound to drizzown.

I don't think they would allow only a certain subset of the field to finish the rounds.

Hopefully you won't run into bad enough weather that cancels the round. If you do when they call you in clearly mark your previous lie (with something other than your mini. so It doesn't fly away) and come back to tournament central. Wait for instructions.

GBO has tee times going up to ~2pm. I think they have options if a storm delay does happen. Don't worry about the details they will take care of it. Bring your rain gear and extra towels and you will be fine.

Ton of options out there:

Delay Friday Options
- Finish round 1 sat AM, shotgun round 2 sat PM, Sunday as normal
- Finish Round 1 Sat, Shotgun Start both rounds 2 and 3 Sunday
- Finish Round 1 Sat, Cancel round 2 (or 3) , play round 3 (or 2) on Sunday
- Void all round 1 scores, start play on Saturday with round 2 tee times or restart round 1 am shotgun start and round 2 pm shotgun start.

Saturday Delay Options
- Finish round 2 Sun AM, Shotgun Round 3 Sun PM
- Finish round 2 Sun AM, Cancel 3rd round
- Void all round 2 scores, start play on Sunday with round 3 tee times or restart round 2 am shotgun start and round 3 pm shotgun start.

Sunday Delay
- All Play is void and results based on standings after round 2

pdga isnt running the tournament. why would the Pdga be on hand?

I don't really know but that's what they told me when I asked.

I can't find it now but there is a minium number of holes that have to be played at each tier of event. This is where the PDGA might get invovled. But like single L pointed out there are so many options it is crazy. And it is almost impossible to tell you how they are going to handle every situation.

I was told not to worry about it in a different thread as well as this one but with over 400 players I just wanted to know ahead of time how it will be handled. I have played shotgun start tourneys that were delayed or cancelled but never one with tee times.

yeah, that's Chris Smith. I've never seen "the pdga" at this tourney before. But i would think they would do it like a ball golf tournament.

Tell me your hypothetical situation and I will come up with a hypothetical answer for you.

There could be different answers for every situation.

Ie
1 card has not teed off
2s card have not teed off
..
50 cards have not teed off
