Katana or Vulcan

Postby nub » Sun Mar 27, 2011 4:45 pm

Any suggestions? I prefer to throw with hyzer out of my hand and let it flip over. Whch of these discs are better for that?

It depends on how hard you throw. If you are throwing a max of about 350' the Vulcan is probably going to be the longest for you and will have a little bit of turn, the Katana will be fairly straight, maybe a slight turn. Bump that up to 400' and the Vulcan is a roller, unless you give it a lot of initial hyzer, while the Katana will fly a wide S curve and should stable out at the end.

I threw the Vulcan a few times and thought it flew a lot like a Road Runner, just faster and requires a little more arm speed for that flight.

I only have 350' max D but I found both of these discs to be very touchy. For me, my beat pro Boss is way more consistent with the same D.

the pro katanas are way better for hyzer flipping, I thought the stars were quite a bit beefier.

I agree. The Star Kat I have is ok but again, I just wasn't consistent with it. Every once in a while I would get a drive that would be 50' or so longer but one time it would flip a bit and the next time it would hyzer out. I just never knew where it was going to end up. I suppose that means I suck.

Try one of the CFR's I got at GBO last year. Thing flew like the CFR destroyers Claring got for HWY 69 dubs. I had to take it out of the bag, I have plenty of plastic that is stable enough for me.

I had the same problem with the star katanas...it would flip out half the time, other times it would blade-hyzer...and it was definately the arrow, not the archer.
