Flex Shots

Postby Schirm » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:27 pm

I hear the term 'flex' all the time, but I'm somewhat confused as to what it means.

Like in this description of the Discmania Rush:

'The main difference between the Roadrunner and Rush is that you do not need to flex this disc in order to make use of the big glide that it offers.'

Is there a different technique when throwing flex shots?
Force, Wraith, Teebird, Pig, Buzzz, Cobra, Challenger...This week at least.

Thats a pretty misleading statement by Discmania, as you dont need to flex the Roadrunner to use it's glide. Flexing is when you throw a stable disc at 100%+ power at a 10-11 o'clock angle.

it's just an s shot starting with anhyzer angle usually done wth stable to overstable plastic. doesn't need to be full power or an extreme angle.

I've heard it used for forehand throws too. Maybe because they are usually S curve shots with a stable disc? Released with anhyzer?

so by this definition, when I fliphyzer a roadrunner and get full s flight out of it, that's not a flex shot.
