Sledders

Sledders

Postby tufluk » Sat Feb 05, 2011 7:43 pm

Today at hole 17, Cam 1, several adults were standing in fairway watching their kids sledding. Upon reaching the tee our group of 3 asked them politely to step aside while we threw. A couple of them moved, and some younger men told us they weren't moving, skip the hole and walk around them. We asked again, they're not going to move. I buzzed my shot a couple of feet over their heads (yes, they ducked). My partners threw thumbers high overhead. Has this happened to anyone else?

They don't have to move. They just have to know that you're throwing.

Unfortunately until they are standing next to a tree that a disc just knocked some bark off of they don’t understand how much impact a disc can make if they got hit until they can see and hear it first hand. Disc Golf is still new to the folks in Forest City, and I am afraid most still think we are throwing the light weight Frisbees that they know of.

Several times I have waited for people to get past me on the walking path before I throw and instead they will stop and tell me to go a head and throw as they want to watch. I explain I don’t want to hit them and they are surprised when I show them how heavy and sharp the edge of the discs are and when I explain that a good disc golfer can throw these over 400 feet and tell it may do more than hurt a little if you would get hit by one, they are surprised  .

Some people are rude but I think a great many just don’t understand what a disc is.

Just stood there looking stupid. I think they were trying to impress their fat girlfriends. After we threw, I think the girls wished they were with us

Dave Panel who runs the parks dept for Milan told us a few years back to tell them that the sledding hill is on the north east corner of the park and to go there if they want to sled.

shit with them not moving to duck till a disc was thrown, you'd probably need a gun to get them to move to a different sleddin hill.

Me being one of the other guys there, the guy/ people were just rude and assholes. We did ask them nicely to move and they just came back at us and said you better be a good Chuckin shot, without moving. lmao they said not to hit any kids which is the whole reason we asked them to move. but they just wanted to stand there and like gene said, act tough.
