Bowl Season

Other than the championship game this seasons bowl games seem somewhat weak and boring.

As a long-suffering Oregon Ducks fan, I've sat in a half-empty Autzen stadium on rotten wood bleachers to watch them struggle to beat WAC teams, back in the day. To see how far they have come, how all phases of that program have been built up over time, WOW!

Go DUCKS!!

Until there is some sort of playoff season, you can have post season college football. How about UCONN in a BCS game. Joke. Although after I think about it, who gives a fyling F. Every game is just as meaningless as the next in the broad scheme of things. Hell, its hard to take the national title game serious when you have another team that has gone undefeated all season and doesnt even get a shot. Why even play division one football if your TCU? This subject is worn out I realize but it doesnt make it any less frustrating....all about the $. I hate the NCAA more and more every day.

The Rose Bowl looks to be the best one to watch.

I hear ya Fausch ..... a Playoff will take care of most of the idiocracy you see in college football today ..... and yes it is a tired argument that has no end in sight.

On a side not if they feel they need to have this ridiculous bowl structure than they need to seed this thing rather than this school yard picking format based on conference affiliations and tie-ins. I say you seed the non-BCS bowls 1-30 and where you finish is where you play (based on final BCS standings 1-120). This way you're efforts are appropriately awarded (both monetarily and the quality of the game) based on how you play and not how well you're fans travel and what conference you're affiliated with.

Based on this Boise State would be rewarded by playing in the Cap One or Cotton and schools like Iowa would be relegated to an appropriate bowl such as the Meineke Car Care or Las Vegas Bowl against a team like Pitt, Baylor, or Fresno State.

This is about the only way I will ever come close to finding an inkling of respect for the Bowl System.

Comments from fans of teams that hide piss poor performances behind a conference shield with absolutely no leg to stand on would be no more .........

Well then the ranking system needs to be changed. Right now you get your rank by a number of ways. Mostly having to do with a human vote deciding where to place you. Until there is a fair way of ranking teams, your idea wont work either.

Preseason rankings are also a joke. Unranked teams have to bust their ass to make it into the top 10, where a team ranked in the top 10 preseason can have upwards of 4 loses before their out of the top 25. Certain teams also dont seem to fall back as far as others following a loss

I agree with you here Tyler. As far as determining a National Champion though, if you had 8 teams. Every team that deserves a shot at the title would get it. Id rather be squabbling over who the 8 and 9 teams are versus who the 1 and 2 teams are. You'd have more meaningful games(right now there is just one). Then you can still have the other 67 bowl games and they will still be exactly what they are right now...meaningless.
