Iowa State PDGA Coordinator 2010 Candidate

Postby Golfguy » Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:10 pm

I would like to officially announce my candidacy for the Iowa State PDGA Coordinator coming up for election in July.

Here is my Candidate Statement:

My mission as the Iowa State PDGA coordinator will be to “Ensure the highest quality tournament experience for the disc golf players”. I plan to recognize what makes a great tournament and help others with improvements. I will actively work with and communicate to all Tournament Directors in the State of Iowa. We will work together to develop a more robust process for determining the official PDGA tournament schedule each year. I will bring a high level of professionalism, energy and results to the PDGA disc golf community in Iowa and surrounding states.

An Iowa State Alum...I do like seeing that on a resume...I may have to reconsider my vote of confidence...

Q: Should you win the election, how do you intend to handle "suggestions" from Clue? :)

This is really a question?

Who ever "wins" should listen to all PDGA members equally. Agreed?

However, in the real world that can be an impossbile task...Not all "suggestions" are created equal. So, I will handle all suggestions as openly and profesionally as possible.

Not that it really matters...but, maybe I can head off some useless threads by stating that I submitted for the postion before I heard about Clue running. So, please don't think I am doing this to run "against" him. I am doing this to run "against" lack of communication and response from the PDGA to the Players and Tournament Directors. ( Make Sense? )

I'm actually glad to hear it. I'd hate for me to be the only candidate in any election. Tim, good luck to you. I think you are a worthy candidate, and I'm glad to see your enthusiasm for this position.

If I remember right I met Tim when he was the TD for Camden doubles. My impression was that he was a no nonsense guy and certainly a very capable person who can handle this type of position. I think we both have similar goals, especially when it comes to communication and being as active as possible.

This is going to come down to one thing in my opinion, and that is who do you think will serve you better. Tim has much more TD experience than I do, but I believe I've played a lot more tournaments and experienced many more tournaments around the country so I've learned a lot from a player's perspective. I look forward to this race. I think we're going to drum up a lot of ideas and goals for the future so I expect this to turn out well either way.

Good luck to both of you....

You are both right communication is an area that needs to be improved and I hope that happens who ever wins the election.

Another item I would like to see is our state coordinator take on is to be more active with the whole state .... please do not forget that north of hwy 20 there still is alot Iowa left up here :D ...don't forget about us. I hope you would like to grow the sport in the entire state.

I think Forest City is earning a pretty good reputation. The Des Moines guys who have made the trip up there like it a lot. That's a venue where we definitely need to work with Minnesota. Waterloo would be another one. The infamous Hickory Hills tournament was the last time I saw a lot of Minnesota guys come down. Again, there are tons of players in Central Iowa, Eastern Iowa, and Minnesota. Consolidation is going to be the key to making many of these venues successful.

Oh I forgot to add relatively unimportant comments.

It's good to see that a whole TWO people actually want this job. I wasn't aware of McLuen's candidacy. Probably has something to do with my not living in the state.

I will say this much, if you are the type of person that has the same "views" or "ideas" as Clue, then there is absolutely no one you should want pushing for their implementation more than Clue. Logic and persistence are very hard to ignore, especially in a public forum.
