Thanks Jay!

It was a tough campaign that came down to the wire.

To the 70% that voted for me...thank you.

And a big thank you to Steve for his 8+ years of service.

Damn Sarg, your gonna be busy next year, with your SECOND term as Des Moines course director, and now your volunteering for State Co-ordinator. Not to mention the fact that you said you were going to focus on your game next year. What's momma gonna do when you start calling in sick once a week?

I will not be running for reelection. I honestly do not have the time to dedicate to the job. My priorities have had to shift and unfortunaltely, disc golf is no longer towards the top of that list.

I would like to officially announce my candidacy. For those that do not know me, my name is Justin McLuen. I live in Des Moines. I've been playing disc golf for 16 years. My disc golf resume is lengthy, unless of course you are looking for wins!

I believe I can do a good job for many reasons, but the biggest would be communication. I'm here on the discussion board almost daily. I'm at as many tournaments as anyone. I know and am pretty good friends with most of the figureheads in this state and our bordering states.

I'll be officially submitting my application to the PDGA this week as well as researching what all is expected from this position. If anyone has any specific questions for me, please post them here or write me privately if you'd like.

Thanks for your consideration.

Nice! I've already achieved my first goal of getting more than zero votes!

What are the 3 goals/ambitions you would have if you were to be elected into this role as State Coordinator of Disc Golf in Iowa??
I want to get a vending machine with fun sized candy bars...and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

The number one goal I have is to try to consolidate pro fields in surrounding states. This may be a slow process, but I'd like to try to work with maybe 1-2 tournaments next year where we (Iowa) would have an Am only and a Pro only weekend and swap with Missouri or Minnesota so we'd travel there and they would travel here. It would take the cooperation of the SCs and a couple of tournament directors, but I hope to be persistent enough to make this happen and it's something I would start working on first thing this fall.

The second thing is to devise a fair and competitive way of allocating the state bid for the USDGC. I don't know that I would change what we've been doing the last couple of years, but I might make it consist of 1-2 less tournaments. I think it's been successful thus far, but I would like to hear from a few of the guys who have been involved to see if they like how it's going.

The third would be to simply uphold tournament standards set forth by the PDGA and to be involved with our TDs to make sure everyone has a reasonable chance to hold events in their areas. As I stated before, communication is going to be the key. This job is going to get tougher as more ambitious clubs and TDs are stretching the calendar.

Thanks guys, I really do appreciate the support. I've had this in the back of my head for years and the timing worked out well this year. I submitted my paperwork today so hopefully I'll be on the ballot soon!
