Although I agree, there seems to be a case of "MBD" going around, I dont find it hard to believe your reaching the same distances with a putter as a driver. In the beginning putters and mid-ranges are easier to throw than wide rimmed drivers.
My advice would be to pick up Roadrunner. If your past the point of learing to throw a driver with control, try a distance driver like a QJLS or TL. It has a smaller rim and more consistent flight than a Wraith or other high speed distance drivers.
Learn with a disc like that, then step it up to more wide rimmed drivers. If the wide rim is a must, try a Beast in any plastic. These are now being listed as the "First big D driver".
You might also like an Inferno, by Gateway. These go as far as any driver out, and honestly, get there with less effort.
