best course

What is the best course in iowa? In terms of being difficult, having everything from water to woods to hills, and general fun to play.

I'd say Atlantic or Pickard. those are my two favorites but i haven't played a lot of the Quad cities or Cedar Rapids courses.

Walnut. WL is not fun to play, just insanely difficult.

Obv. Fun as hell to shoot well there (25% of the time), frustrating and losing plastic, missing the gimme deuces here and there the other 75%. I know you guys all lose plastic regularly there as well, that is never fun, and never happens at a course like WL.

I might be myself on this, but I'm gonna keep pimping Middle Park in Davenport. Clean mature park with just enough water to keep you honest, a little bit of woods, a couple really good hills but not too many, a couple big boy holes but not exhausting, good variety and relatively easy to play. I think it has a little bit of everything that people like in a course.

+1

I always have a blast at WL whether I shoot well or not, just because I enjoy the challenge. Walnut is a good course but no water, minimal elevation, and nowhere near as challenging.

IMO difficult courses don't always make the "best" courses. Manageable yet difficult can (wl, pickard, Urbana) walnut , shaver is up there. I think Ewing and legion are great places that get Ed. I could go on with other ones but throw.

We are all thankful for what the state has to offer as well as everything right across the boarder in qc which I think of as IA

Hoping we'll get Golden Oaks in Okoboji into this conversation by Fall.

Like Nate I haven't played all of the QC courses. That being said I would have to go with Indian Hills, Pickard and Walnut. No particular order. Ewing has no water or it would be #1. Based on the question, I would have to go with Forest City as the fifth.

Just like Championship Vinyl, there isn't a best course, there is only a top five!!

This, i forgot to include IHCC. West Lake is simply not the "best course." Yeah its the hardest, has "water and hills," apparently staples in this category, but which course doesnt? I would think overall fun factor, variety of shots, medium difficulty factor, and flow of play would be involved. We are all going to be homeboys to our home courses, so it is what it is.
