I'd get it if anybody on the tour were Rory or Tiger. But they're not. Outside of players I'd wager they have very little to no fanbase...

If I'm just a regular alt-sports viewer with not much idea of frisbee, seeing the top four players wreck competition you can't see, while probably staying very close to eachother in terms of scoring, shot selection, etc. ..I feel like it would be pretty bland without contrast.

That being said, I see the usefulness of it if it's like.. one tournament a year and that tournament is known for that type of setup. Otherwise I think it is a competitive advantage and baseless preferential treatment.

Obviously the PGA is doing this for TV. No idea how that goes over with PGA golfers. It's all about priorities. If their priorities are competitive integrity and the appearance of fairness then this probably isn't the way to go, but if it's about marketing and promotion of the sport then it's probably a good idea. As a huge golf fan, I love the super groups on the PGA when I'm watching on Thu and Fri, however it can be hard on some of those golfers. The 3rd wheel in a Tiger/Rory group has not fared well for the most part.

The bottom line is the entities that have the most money at stake (sponsors, PDGA, etc...) really should have the most say and should do what's best for them. If 2nd tier players don't like it then they shouldn't play. Thus far they don't seem to be deterred.

I've had two world champs tell me how much it sucks to have cameras chasing them around and impeding the natural flow of the round. That shouldn't happen. Tiger and Rory don't have camera men asking them if they could wait a minute until they get in position.

I have to think that since these guys will eventually rise to the top, showing other talent during the early rounds makes more sense for the fans.

However, if there is some kind of tradition going on, I can see a top card of names. IMO, tradition can be dumb.

i don't care who wins or loses, just as long as nobody gets hurt and everyone has a good time.
