Somehow its rated ahead of Camden II per dgcoursereview. No chance by the looks of it.

Northwoods is a bad ass course. Especially with the new re-design.

I dont think its better than C2, but its no slouch. Its still a little gimmicky on a few holes, but its solid.

Those are reviews on DGCR are not always done by the most trained/critical eyes. I've played Northwoods - MANY times. It's not even a top 10 course IMO. It has a few good holes - sure. Hole 5 that they reference is probably the dumbest hole in the state - the tee shot requires accuracy - but not distance. Then if you happen to land in the correct spot - you're still faced with nearly NO SHOT to the "island" green as he calls it. Kiwanis Park in Galesburg is an OK course, and didn't take a genius to design.

Anyway - just sayin' Nettles - McNaughty is still the standard in the Peoria area - whenever you get done patting yourself on the back.

Just goes to show that.those ratings are very subjective. I think we had this arguement before when some one was advertising a tourney here. Not to say its not a good course, I havent played there since the redesign, but I can think of at least thre courses that.are better

agreed - but it's not the 2nd best course in the state - it's the second best course in Peoria.

Centralia maybe? Haven't seen it with the new concrete pads yet.

I was there the last time Peoria Open was an A-Tier. I'm sure the hole referenced (5) is the same, and it's quite possibly the flukiest dumbest hole I've ever played - that had potential to be a great hole.

Its not that bad of a hole. I think the one before it is worse.

Since the re-design, this is the best course in Peoria, IMO. Ive never played Centrailia, but hear alot about it.

By next summer, if Round Lake follows thru with their plans, the redesigned Fairfield, to potentially be called Squaw Creek, should make the top five in Illinois as a par 65 Gold level course. A new Blue level course is also going in around the corner from Fairfield but I won't see the property to check potential until next week.

Give us another year of work on Camden 2, along with the new tee signs that Chris and Mike W. are working on, then see how things shake out. IMO, lack of signage is our biggest flaw. I've seen previews of new signs, they are sweet. Great job on design, with help from Chris's Mrs..

As an aside, there are 126 separate entries on the camdentwo.com work log for 2012. That means there was work being done on the course more than 1 day out of every 3. All year long. Rain, snow, shit or blood. Few crews do that. I feel priviledged to be a part.
