PDGA vote

If your in on the Illinois vote, go Trotter.

I think its safe to say Chicago representation hasnt really benefited the Illinois Quad Cities at all. While they did a good job for Chicago and the rest of Illinois, its time for a change.

I don't know any of them or any of the issues...but voting for someone who will help showcase what we got going on over here makes sense to me

Just curious what role you think the IL SC has in showcasing the QC area?

more major events in the area. The state championships are in Chicago...why not in a more central area? Disc golf is huge in the QC and the Peoria areas...some great courses with great support facilities. I don't know how these desicions are made, but it couldn't hurt having someone in office that understands what all we have to offer.

I didnt say anything about showcasing the QC area, execpt that it hasnt been. His role as SC for the PDGA is to install growth in all areas of the state. Not just Chicago and the greater Chicago area, which is what I should have said instead of Chicago and Illinois. It seems people from other areas in Illinois are doing it without thier help either, like here.

Just curious why you seem to think he doesnt?

Yes, disc golf may be huge in the QC and Peoria areas, but until this past year, the number of PDGA members and tournaments in the Peoria area has been rather low.

It takes a local push for PDGA growth. NE IL has a huge PDGA player base. This is the result of multiple years of pushing by the local clubs with Discontinuum probably pushing for PDGA participation the most. It was not the result of Wilbur trying to push for growth in NE IL. (NE IL PDGA membership got to their current levels prior to Brett being the IL SC.) The tournament saturation in the last couple of years was not the result of Brett pushing for more events, but more organizers coming on the scene.

The IL State Championships have been hosted by the Joliet Disc Golf team for the past 32 years and have done a great job in doing so. I see no reason to tell then that they can't do that again next year.

If the QC or Peoria area wants to host a big event next year, they are welcome to contact me, make a proposal, and we can see what we can make happen.
