Iowa Disc Golf Hall of Fame - Induction Ceremony

Postby Clue » Mon May 09, 2011 11:32 am

This year is the inaugural induction to the Iowa Disc Golf Hall of Fame. There will be a ceremony at the First Class Challenge Player's Party on Sat, May 28th at roughly 7pm. This is a huge honor for those that were selected and we anticipate all of them being present. I really hope all of you are able to make it out to see and learn about the people who were integral to making disc golf what it is in Iowa.

Yes. I can't give you a really good reason why, it was just a decision that was made.

BS.

It should be public record. And the fans need to count for a significant portion of the vote. The Ballots should be released prior to any committee voting taking place and popular opinion should be factored into all decisions. Fascists.

WE NEED A VOICE!!!!

I didn't know you could be in the Hall of Fame for just being old.

And if lindsley is in and I was one vote off I guess there's a "helmet" category as well? Good. I don't think I should've won that one. Thanks Kenton.

I think the first class should be the guys that were the forefathers in the state and an appointment is ok in my book. Many of the newer guys have no clue what some people meant to the sport in their day or even know who they are. I think in the future there should be a certain number of people eligible to be appointed and a certain number of people to be voted in. It would make a good mix of honoring the founders and giving recognition to the current greats who have proved themselves as players, liasons or hard workers. No matter how it goes down, I think it is great that these people are being recognized.

This definitely. Having been a part of this from day 1, my perception of many possible nominees has changed drastically over the last year. There are many many good candidates and it may be years before some of them get in. I just hope people realize that there's no perfect way to do this and that in time everyone should be given their due process.
