Orc vs. Wraith

Postby geoffreylaw » Fri Jul 20, 2007 11:34 am

It seems like the orc is the exact same as a Wraith but it doesn't go quite as far. Anybody know if there is more of a difference?

If the net result is the same for you, then that's interesting... Their both highly stable discs, but I'd think that one would fly differently than the other. Since the Orc has more dome, and a more concave rim, especially... Those are just random thoughts - they'll get you knowhere, but I'm interested to see what people have to say!

Many times I am hard pressed to see the difference between discs looking at the rim and shape etc. , particularly when one mold can look so much different from disc to disc. I quit trying to analyze it years ago. Agreed, the Wraith goes further for me than the Orc, and I think they have similar flight characteristics, so I throw the Wraith now. Plus the Wraith is great in both Star and Pro plastic, whereas I really only liked the Orc in champ plastic (probably Star too if I ever tried it.)

Duden, who throws with more power than probably anybody I know, except maybe MDR, says his stork is beefier than any star wraith he's ever had. And he crushes it.

Star Orc is more overstable for me than a Star Wraith. I see no difference in disctance on a hyzer line, but for a wide open flex shot the wraith goes a little farther. I much prefer the Orc for controlled distance, as it is more reliable to not flip and take off on you.
