Think about this if you approach a buisness that knows nothining of disc golf or even one that does, like say Dicks or Hy-Vee Etc. They wouldn't know the difference between sanctioned or not. If the added cash is there and the purse is there why give it to the PDGA. Last time I checked, they haven't had any type of involvement here since Ed Hedrich and Legion. If you have a lot of money involved( for instance the Greater CR Open at Hunters Ridge gets people from all over the place playing 10 g and is not sanctioned) I say give the money back or find a way to spend it for more entertainment value. I also think that half the sanctioned events around here are boring, which might turn people who are new away. The same old routine will not work in the near future. Half the time I only go because of the people. Im not a terrific player, so may be a few contests at break or some beer would help. Legion is the perfect example. At break a few of us always drink a few beers at break and bullshit. It's always a pretty nice day, and a good time to catch up with old friends. Must I remind some tds that this is a sport invented by potheads and drunks. Not people who wear suits and frown on the causal beer after a round. Pat posted a while ago that we didn't need more tourneys just better ones with bands, player parties and camping. He's right. I think people use the words "great" "success" and "good time" when referencing disc golf tourneys too much. I wish every one could be a bushwacker or a puffin. We play to play. 4th of July drunken double is the coolest thing since sliced bread. Why else would some of the best in Iowa drive an hour every wed to play for very little money they wont even see for 4 months. Fun. This is why I drive to the QC to play. The bunch of guy's you got are awesome. I'd drive up there for any event sanctioned or not. Point is you shouldn't have to give people money for nothing. I'm not trying to insult anyone either.

I'll take a stab at that #.

1201
-539 (49ams * 11 player pack voucher)
-490 (49ams * 10 PDGA fees for a B-tier)
-168 (24 pros * 7 PDGA fees for a C-tier)
leaves us with 4 bones.

Seems like there was:

$2 to PDGA/($3 for Ams...B-Tier)
$2 to EDGE (Iowa Tour thing)
$3 Ace pool

That's $7 from the $45 the Pros and $8 from Advanced paid. Net $38 (or $37 for Advanced).

Frog you reminded me of something everyone on my card was talking about at Osky....Distance Contest, over the pond! Cmon, we got MDR3000 and Jason Duden for frick sake! Fred Smith was there too! Man, that would have been sick! immediately following the round, while TJ is doing the scores, have a few guys running a distance comp....Just a thought. I think we might need to work this out for next year, or for the Osky Challenge!

Pro Event Value: $1031 (104%) (Cash, Trophies, CTP's)

Am Event Value: $1681 (117%) (Merch, Trophies, CTP's, Player's Packs)

This also doesn't take into account the $21 we ate on unused trophies. Intermediate has no room to complain with a 150% payout. It's not my fault that the PDGA wants a deep flat payout for am divisions and a mandatory players pack for a 'B' Tier. I sign an agreement to run these tournaments by the PDGA guidelines and that's what I do. The day's of the $200-$300 payout to first place is over. Get used to it. Without big time sponsors, it won't happen.

The distance competition is a good idea. I had actually never thaught of it. If there is a good spot to do it from, we'll have to do it during the Osky Challenge.

Critisisms? Ideas? Problems? What was bad? What was good? What could be done to make it better?

If these are never asked or answered, tournaments will never get better. That's not just for my tournaments, but all tournaments. I want to get feedback from everybody. I love hearing the compliments, but it's the complaints that make tournaments better. Had Tanner never posted about the distance comp. over the pond, it would never happen because I had never thaught of it. Now that it's mentioned, I like the idea and will look into doing it.

This is what disc golf is about to me. Not always drinking a few beers, but I reccomend it. It's what you make of it. I don't need a distance competition, an ace fund, or a CTP to get my moneys worth at a tournament. I am completitive as anybody else and I hate to lose, as long as I am on the course with good people, it's all good to me. If the PDGA is going to rip me off to do it, so be it. I am the one choosing to go. I can get a group of 4 or 5 guys on the weekend and play for fun and have a great time if I wanted to, but I want the competition side of it as well.
I'll tell you what a real rip off is, my tax return, just went over the numbers yesterday, as if I don't spend enough money on taxes, they keep asking for more.
NO!......Welp!?

That's the spirit! I think it will be sick to tee off from the pavillion over to that nice area next to 13's tee.
