I meant paying half the field. It's just contributing to the pusification of the sport.

Might as well just give everyone their money back so everyone feels like a winner.

Now we just need to work on the 50% payback.

I believe your meaning paying out half the field. We paid the reccommended 45%. I plugged in the numbers both at 45% and at 40% when I was figuring payout Saturday. The most any place changed was $10 and that was for first. Every other spot moved no more then $5. That's why I made the decision to go ahead and pay the top 11. Which turned into top 12 because of the tie.

For the record, I personally would rather see it the way it used to be, top third only.

If your meaning the total payout, which I don't think you are, the base entry fee was $38.

$38 X 24 Open = $912

Total Payout = $917

Payout % = 100.6%

Take it to the PDGA, it's their suggested payout scheme, not TJ's. Once/if there's corporate sponsors, there will be more money for everybody to go around, and nobody will bitch about the current payout scheme. But, since it's just you guys playing for everybody else's money, some of the top eschelon of players bitch. IMO, that's just greedy. Ask Greenleaf if he thinks you should have his $15.

For arguements sake, let's say there was a measley $10,000 added cash from corporate sponsor X. Take approx. 13% of entries that you won ($118) and the same cut of the added cash, and you walk away with $1,418. You still gonna be pissed that they're paying half the field? Yes, that's a loaded question.

The key word is *suggested*.

It's not about the money. It's about the principle.

It's like schools doing away with failing grades. It's not the students fault. Bullshit, it is the students fault. The PDGA wants everyone to be winners. I'm sorry, but there was only one winner in my division. If I play like ass, I don't expect to get some consolation prize.

TJ, I had a great time and appreciate all you do. I wasn't questioning the money at all. Never do. If you had taken your cut for running the event, you would'nt hear a peep from me. Thanks man. 8)

Great job again by tj and the gang down there getting the course picked. I would like to also thank the pdga for winning another tournament . I mean lets face it they get more than winner in the pro-division winner does every tournament via sanctioning fees and non member fees collected.

We can only hope that money will be used wisely. But, like most governments, there's bound to be waste.

It is kind of ridiculous though, that the winning intermediate player only got his entry fee back in winnings.

and?

It's not like he beat 40 people and got his entry fee back. he beat 10.

Here's some math.

30 entry - 11 player pack - 5 pdga fees = 14.

so he more than doubled what he put into the pool.
